The microstamping bill is one that will not go away and has shown up this year with some wording so its not so blatant of a total semi-automatic ban as it had been in the past as an attempt to get if passed. Its still the worst thing ever.

Previous years, the wording banned all trade in older guns and prevented sale of all new guns if not microstamping capable. They try to be a little more tricky this time around.

This years bill has different wording such as "manufactured after" start date which would make it that we would have to know the date of manufacture on some guns in order to buy it. As you may know, this data is not tracked very much and well and probably some FFLs would refuse transfer until all guns come with some kind of system to note the exact date.

The writer of this bill knows the existence of non-microstamping models means for the next 100 years, the system really will never work well but does help in slowing us all down. They know they have to do something about us all just going to Gun Broker and buying old new guns and used guns.

Also new in it is that no one can transfer a gun that the microstamping spots has been defaced so there is danger in that there will be fear that guns will need to be tested upon transfer and recertified to guarantee to all parties there is no violation as the time of the transfer. This clause is going to slow up transfers and increase time and effort, produces a quality control for the microstamping proponents that it still works. This means the seller, buyer and the FFL will need some kind of assurance ad the time of any transfer.

Though not in the bill and if you look at the bill list again, you can see they always intend some incremental creeping, we would probably end up with that all microstamping guns have to be tested annually or upon and parts changes and or maintenance.

I wonder the cost of the device to read the microstamping and who will be required to get one?

The bill needs to be sent packing.
Microstamping is bunk science the same as the "lie detector". Totally subjective.
