The leader of a private squad of US military veterans heading to Israel to rescue trapped Americans angrily says that they only have to help because the Biden administration refuses to protect its own people even when they’re “being held at the barrel of a gun.”
“We used to be feared, now we’re laughed at,” Bryan Stern told The Post of US failings that have forced him to maintain Project DYNAMO, the rescue force he first assembled after Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
“There’s never been anything like DYNAMO before — because there’s never been a need for anything like DYNAMO before,” he said.
“The net result is Americans keep getting put in danger, and America keeps embarrassing itself on the world stage,” he said of what he sees as a weakened foreign response.
While he refused to single out any leaders for blame, Stern said he felt once again forced to “Americans are being held at the barrel of a gun” while terrorists continue to kidnap and kill citizens.

Something to consider. Gaza has more than 2,000,000 residents and occupies 141 square miles. It is one of the most densely populated places on Earth. Kill them all as some have advocated sounds like a holocaust. If the IDF goes in, they will have to fight house by house. Their losses will likely prove staggering. Larry Johnson has a worthwhile piece on what the IDF wil face likening it to the battle of Iwo Jima that took a month to subdue the Japanese. He reckons it would take at least 4 months of that level of fierce fighting in Gaza, probably more. That’s assuming no other parties get involved like hezbolla. Will not be a cake walk.

This is not an easy post to write. I feel that I’m watching the rise of Nazism in 1930s Europe, and that we are on the precipice of a globe-changing war.
The Hamas surprise attack on Israel has killed over 700 people and wounded over 2000. But beyond those numbers, the savagery of Hamas and Islamic Jihad has been startling by any standard. In my post last night I compared them to ISIS:
Palestinian civil society is ecstatic, with cheering crowds spitting on and defiling the bodies of the dead Israelis and tourists that have been dragged to Gaza.
The Israeli Defense Minister said: “The rules of war have changed, we will cripple Gaza so that it will remember it for the next 50 years.”
I’m beginning to understand why, and it’s more than the death toll. He undoubtedly knows more than has been reported.
Liel Liebowitz of The Tablet magazine interviewed survivors of the music event attacked by Hamas at which 260 people we gunned down point blank. The survivors tell of mass rapes of women and girls, executions, and other abuses including by 15-16 year-old Palestinians, Eyewitness Account of the Rave Massacre:
Shooting began. Many were executed on the spot. 260 bodies have been found, so far, on the site of the rave.
Many of the young men and women started running in the flat expanse of the western Negev desert. Faced with the spectacle of kids fleeing for their lives on a largely flat surface, the terrorists began rounding up the rest of their victims.
Others were captured and bound and kidnapped. “I saw videos with a male getting held by a group of Arab kids. Like, they’re like 16, 17,” one survivor recalled. “They’re kids, but they’re young men already, and they’re holding this guy, and he looks as his girlfriend is being mounted on a bike and driven away from him. God knows what she’s going to experience … Women have been raped at the area of the rave next to their friends bodies, dead bodies.”
