Wait, what? At a federal level I thought the only misdemeanor that got you on the prohibited list was domestic violence or anything with a 1 year sentence?
Prohibited for a DUI? I know people with 2+ DWI's and they are definitely not prohibited.

Reminds me of non-violent felons such as money launderers, and those types of crooks. I actually know of one who was turned into felon who did insurance fraud. They have no intentions of physically hurting anyone, but is barred from owning a gun because they are classified as a "felon". They look at their past and have turned themselves 180 degrees around. New person and very trustworthy. That person should be able to own a gun in my opinion.

A violent felon on the other hand... no friggin way.

They certainty(did) use it as a reason to NOT to issue a Handgun Licenses , and rumor has it Character References from DWI were frowned upon.

Some people do things they don’t really know are crimes or need to do at a certain point out of desperation. I do not think non-violent felons should be barred from gun ownership. He can likely go through a court process to get his rights restored. I’m sure it’s not cheap but it can be done.

He is slowly saving up that money to do it. He's in the process of finding the appropriate legal service. He's hoping by the time he retires he wants to legally be able to own a gun to have another hobby.

The idea that a single felony can cancel a human right after restitution has been made, gave them the path to disqualify everyone from gun ownership is a flawed position we 2A supporters support.
