Several years ago police shot into a crowd wounding several German tourists. They police shot into the crowd because they were in pursuit of a criminal with a gun. The excuse the mayor used at that time was that the tourists were only wounded by the bullets that fragmented when they hit the building. I think it was the Empire State Building but I'm not sure. Anyone remember that? The point is once again a criminal with a gun and excuses made for incompetant police harming law abiding people. The police were never found at fault from what I recall. So firing into crowds is ok? Just another reason I'm not a supporter of NY government or its police.

I can't find a reference to German tourists but I did a search for an article. It was around the mid 2000's. Here's all I could find right now.
