Winchester ranger- can this be fixed

I was gifted this gun a few years ago, never noticed this before. I am no firearms expert but i will not shoot until i figure out how this haplened and what can be done. 30-30

Probably should start by cleaning up that area first for better inspection!

Do you have any pics of the bolt face where it meets up with that chip. I wonder if there was some foreign material that got caught in between.

I will look when i get home, should be able to snap a pic. Can clean up as well but not sure if dust removal will do much for me now

I'm thinking it's an "Angle-Eject" and that's just the extractor cut on the breech face...it does look like it's possibly suffered a little abuse, perhaps a case stuck and someone pried it out with a screwdriver...you'd be surprised to learn just how soft the metal is in a good many Barrels and Frames.
