Semi Auto Shotgun in Westchester

So not getting a clear answer from pistol license division. I have a target pistol license - never changed it to CCW. Plan to do it someday when I have time to sit through 16 hour of class.

I am looking to buy a semi-auto shotgun Benelli M4 or Beretta 1301. Do I need a permit for those? Does there need to be an amendment? I know semi-auto rifles need to have a permit but I am not sure of semi-auto shotgun. This will be my 1st long gun so was little confused.

Answer from the sheriff was - get the terminology straight. There are NO semi-auto shotguns, only bolt or pump.

So now that I can go ahead and buy the shotgun - any advice on what I can and can not get.

I am looking at Benelli M4 and I am ok with 5+1 mag capacity. I think it can be upgraded to 7 but I am not sure if that restricts anything else.

I am looking to buy with pistol grip and collapsible/telescopic stock. I thought collapsible stock was a no-no but then someone mentioned that if I have mag capacity of 5 - I can get whatever features I want. I am just not sure if I can get pistol grip and collapsible stock.

Actually, if manual (pump) an adjustable (not folding, that is no longer allowed) is allowed. Once semi other restrictions are applied.

I've attended many shotgun courses. Everyone who has the Beretta 1301 likes it.

Most have a Langdon Tactical configuration with the Magpul stock, Zukhov handguard, and RMR optic mount (with optic).

Save yourself the money and get the standard 1301 Tactical and buy the adapters for the Magpul stock and Magpul Zhukov forend. This only applies if you can do the changes yourself.

A much better stock option is the Chisel stock with the RMR mount but its a pretty penny.

I love both the 1301 and M4 and I love them both.

My 1301 has a Swampfox Kingslayer RMR and my M4 has a Holosun 507 RMR.
