I'm surprised by how much this is affecting me. I'm normally quite detached from deaths that aren't really, really, really close to me.
A tidbit from an article someone linked in the closed thread might speak to why:
I don't know about seeing myself, but what I did see in Charlie was an overwhelmingly decent man who spent his entire career engaging in incredibly polite civil discourse with anyone who wanted to talk. He was shockingly patient and willing to listen, and he was willing to admit when he was wrong.
But I don't think it's the personal side. I feel like what I witnessed today was the death of America. If we can't have polite civil discourse to talk about our issues, then America is lost. There's a part of me that's saying "alright, fine, we tried that. If this is how they want to play, fine, let's do it."
I'm not shocked by the bullshit we're seeing on far-left forums. I am absolutely appalled by House Democrats shouting "no" when a moment of prayer was suggested. I don't see us righting this ship without watering the tree of liberty, if you know what I mean. I don't want it to come to that, but I fear it already has. And I am incredibly sad over that.

True patriotic constitutionalists will always be reactive. They want minimal government in their lives. They want to live-and-let-live.

I fear that the Leftist Progressives' (read: Fabian socialists) long play to control American education from the 1960s onward has reached fruition. An entire generation now hates their country. They cannot even appreciate the irony that the society that they wish to destroy is the very same society that affords them the freedom to openly express their un-American beliefs.
If you can, watch the 1980s interview with former KGB agent Yuri Bezminov. He explains how communists formulated a long term strategy to get Americans to hate themselves. Those who are now the most indoctrinated and intractably brainwashed are the very people who consider themselves "woke" (awakened to truth). The irony, again, is manifest...and tragically sad.
Those who are truly awakened understand first principles and our national founding. They believe in natural rights and the immutable force of individual lawful freedom.
I am concerned that our national dialogue is no longer between right and left or socialist versus capitalist. When one side rejects universal truths, the dichotomy of our species, and believes that rights are created by government, then they reject human nature and reality.

The Atheist claim there is no God that's it's all mythology and that's their Right, but Theology proves them wrong...that's one of the positions Kirk made and backed up, which pissed the woke crowd off...If you're willing to believe in a "Higher Power" of Good, then you should be able to accept there's one of evil/not good and I believe that evil is very much at work and an increasing Falling Away from God is enabling it.

According to the local investigator who spoke to reporters, officials tracked the killer from an hour before the shooting to when he jumped off the campus building and fled into a local neighborhood.
Starting at 11: 52 AM, the subject arrived on campus, shortly away from campus. We have tracked his movements onto the campus, through the stairwells, up to the roof, across the roof to a shooting location.
After the shooting, we were able to track his movements as he moved to the other side of the building, jumped off of the building and fled off of the campus and into a neighborhood. Our investigators have worked through those neighborhoods, contacting anybody they can with doorbell cameras, witnesses, and have thoroughly worked through those communities, trying to identify any leads.
