Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (FL) was indicted by a federal grand jury for stealing $5 million in FEMA funds.
According to the Justice Department, Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick and her brother Edwin Cherfilus allegedly stole $5 million in FEMA funds and funneled it through different accounts to pay for the defendant’s 2021 congressional campaign.
“Using disaster relief funds for self-enrichment is a particularly selfish, cynical crime,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.


According to the indictment, Cherfilus-McCormick, 46, and her brother Edwin Cherfilus, 51, both of Miramar, worked through their family health-care company on a FEMA-funded COVID-19 vaccination staffing contract in 2021. In July 2021, the company received an overpayment of $5 million in FEMA funds.
The indictment alleges that the defendants conspired to steal that $5 million and routed it through multiple accounts to disguise its source. Prosecutors allege that a substantial portion of the misappropriated funds was used as candidate contributions to Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign and for the personal benefit of the defendants.

I’d assume they did this to hide where it originated from. Meaning they didn’t want the connection from her business to her campaign easily noted and found by the public through simple records checks. You’re correct and if you look hard enough it is there but us normal people can’t find it that quickly. She probably used a Hollywood movie as a game plan on how to do this.

That is an assumption which has been proven wrong often lately. DOD/DOW spending and budget, COVID funds, SNAP/ MEDICARE beneficiaries, Green Deal and Civil Infrastructure funding, NYS Budget and accounting. All of these have been in the news lately. Oversight and accounting for each penny stopped almost as soon as computed (no longer a person looking at the spreadsheet) accounting started at this level. Became VERY easy to just enter the needed info and letting it roll. How did the former NYS Gov pay for escorts again?

Lets not apply NYS methods and target only one demographic; Audit all without exception.

It’s funny, I remember when Trump was elected the first time. The months of “He has to sell all his businesses and his kids to.” They put them all in trust. THEN “We” started noticing noone else in the Legislative branch was held to the same standard. Heck the person who replaced him after his first term wasn’t held to it either. Very much like the screaming for an ethics clause for the SCOUS from the branch who themselves don’t have one.

While I’m ranting; ALL Federal employees must be at work and their place of duty unless they are on Sick Leave or PTO EXCEPT the Legislative Branch. Even during the shutdown, look at the seats in the chamber. Same branch who get paid even during their own failure of a shutdown. America has become dormant and their voice is not used anymore.
