2026 gardening thread, whatcha got going on in the yard this year? Even house plants are ok.

So far I’ve only got swiss chard, a couple cool hardy varieties of lettuce , spinach and chives in the ground. My Sage bush and Italian Oregano are coming back nicely as well. The strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are leafing out nicely. We won’t put much of anything else in the ground for at least another week or so.

I’m right there with you. I can’t wait to get my tangerine tree out into the yard. I have about 50 little tangerines about half the size of a pea. I’m hoping to get 4-8 of them because the tree is fairly small.
My fig tree is starting to leaf out and I’m hoping my plum tree set some fruit but man it was cold when the flowers were in the tree but they hung on for a week or so, hoping for a few.
Time will tell. I need to start moving some plants so hoping the weather beyond the 10-day forecast I’m seeing looks promising or I’m in trouble. After today I can move them from outside into the garage so I don’t have to keep running them from the basement and outside and back again. That will be a huge time saver because instead of a turkey baster I can water with the hose. 3 squirts from a turkey baster into 154 seedlings sucks if I’m being honest and it’s everyday at this point.

That looks amazing. Those are some nice looking taters. Don’t forget to mound some dirt on them and keep the edible portion covered with soil. Green potatoes are poisonous.

I started making my garden structure last night. I took some old fence posts from a neighbor getting rid of their chain link fence. I’m making a rectangle structure out of it and I’m going to tie cattle panels to it. No more tomato cages for me for the most part. It will be a permenant trellis so I can just tomato clip everything to it quickly and easily. I had 8’ stakes and tomato cages all over the place. I’m using the other fence posts with galvanized wire for raspberry and blackberry support and some for my grape vine as well.
The long hard winter was tough on my blackberries and I had a good die off. Sad as they were getting to the point where I was getting a lot of berries and exactly the amount needed for an entire year.
I just planted my squash, zucchini, water melons, and cucumbers yesterday inside in degradable pots. I did 8 of each. I’m now at just over 200 seedlings I’m caring for. Yikes!! Friends and family can’t come get them soon enough.

It looks great. Look up how to prune tomatoes. Also water the base and not the leaves. Try to keep soil off the leaves because that spreads disease. Toss some basil in by the tomatoes to keep the hornworms at bay.
