A bill that would enable New York prosecutors to bring cases against those who have received presidential pardons was signed into law on Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office announced.
“No one is above the law and New York will not turn a blind eye to criminality, no matter who seeks to protect them,” Cuomo said.

There is state law, there is federal law. The president can only pardon federal law. I have a massive personal beef with that and it is pitiful, but does this bill allow NY, in the case of a pardon, to decide to temporarily put federal law on the books and charge as a state offense?

This is what I'm saying. Cuomo has no authority over federal issues. If someone is guilty of a federal crime, the state has nothing to do with it and has no authority over it. The feds do. So this law is retarded and seemingly just for show. This guy really knows how to waste money.

Skelos has been in jail for awhile. Silver remains free but that’s because of some indecisive judge. Not Bharara’s fault.

Ford pardoned Nixon even though Nixon was never convicted of anything if I recall correctly. As others have pointed out a presidential pardon is for federal crimes and apparently does not impact state level offenses.
