Almost 1,200 hospital doctors in France are resigning from supervisory roles in protest over public hospital funding and the government’s handling of employee concerns about staffing levels, RT reported.
Medical staff have accused the government of failing to engage in negotiations over public hospital services and what they say are serious shortfalls in funding. In an open letter to French Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn, the resigning doctors on Tuesday criticized the budget laid out for public hospitals in 2020 as “too little, too partial, too spread out over time.”
“The deterioration of the working conditions of professionals is such that it calls into question the quality of care and threatens the safety of patients,” the doctors added.

France is finding out what happens when they run out of other people's money. The masses have been protesting about planned cuts to retirement pensions for weeks. Now doctors are quitting over inadequate funding of hospitals. Everyone over there seems to think the govt has an endless supply of money that can be given out to every cause. Sorry folks, it doesn't work like that.

Unfortunately this scenario will be coming soon to our shores. The budget deficit is simply unsustainable. I don't how and I don't know when - but sooner or later we will also run out of other people's money. And that is when our politics gets even uglier than it is now.

The thing about France, from my observation, and from those I know who have lived and worked there (mostly ex-pats) is that there is some sort of strike going on in the country all the time. Perhaps this is just another one of those "strikes." Perhaps not.

I have heard the same thing for those I know that live/lived there.
Basically the entire country is in a union and can strike at will.

Just to explain the issue, France's national pension system requires everyone to contribute. Macron has proposed raiding the pensions of doctors and lawyers, which are very well funded, to make up some of the shortfalls in other areas. Hence doctors suddenly concerned about "staffing levels" and walking off their admin responsibilities.
