They are complete friggin’ morons. They’re demanding something of technology that doesn’t exist.

Not long ago, I worked for a very large, national truck fleet. They spent untold millions of dollars on research and development on hybrid trucks. They had a handful of hybrid trucks in the nation, with one here in the northeast. The idea was to prove the technology, and then possibly expand the hybrid presence in the national fleet.

I can’t speak for the rest of the hybrid trucks in the fleet, but the one here in the northeast was a complete piece of shit. The hybrid system never worked as designed and caused more downtime than anything. It didn’t take the company long to give up and strip the hybrid system off the truck and convert it back to a conventional diesel tractor.

They couldn’t even figure out a decent, workable hybrid system. I’d love to see how they think they’re going to make a truck that solely runs on electricity.
But, go ahead and live your utopian pipe dream, California. I’m sure it will work out great for you.

I'm all for innovation and have nothing against electric cars These retards always the think they can rush new tech to market. They don't care if its proven, cost efficient, or safe. Then they complain the carbon footprint to manufacture is too high, the new cars aren't safe enough and no one can afford them . The fleet mileage requirement rushed the CVT transmission to market, be prepared to replace one for about 6K all the carbon footprint you just saved went into manufacturing a replacement you gained nothing.
