I found these two years ago at green lakes state park. Great for fishing very active and the best part is you walk on the soil where they are and they literally jump out of the ground. You scrape leaves off the surface and 5-10 worms just come right up. Very easy to accumulate. Everyone in our group got a kick out of them.

The worms have created a cascade of degradation to the soil. They break down leaf litter too quickly, which hastens erosion and deprives soil of needed nutrients.
