They've been selling that at $30/box for months now. Agreed, I will not pay those prices either. I suppose for someone that has zero inventory it may be worth picking up a box or two.

I want ammo so badly but I don't know if I can bring myself to pay those prices. I'm not that desperate to pay $60 for 100 9mm range ammo.


I did however just yesterday found some aguila basic .22lr at gander for like 12.99 for 250 so I picked up a box. I talked to the guy there and they occasionally get 5-10 boxes of 50 9mm here and there and he thinks they list it for sale at like $14.99 usually.

I completely understand some folks buying a case at 0.60/rd. If I had the need or an inkling of a need, I would definitely go that route as my time is worth something to me.

Using myself as an example, my local Walmart is probably a 10-15 minute drive from the house. I'll assume that I would be successful in finding 9mm in stock maybe 1 out of every 10 trips? And lets price the ammo at $14.99 per box If you do find it, you are limited to 3 boxes at a time. At least that's what it was last week when I posted about the .22 ammo at the local WM. Assuming this the sole purpose of the trip was for ammo, and not Walmart shopper gazing, you are spending 200 to 300 minutes driving to get 150 rounds at "normal" prices. That would translate to around 22 to 33.3 hours to save $300. And that doesn't include fuel cost or any of the time you have to walk to sporting goods and then try to find someone to get the ammo for you and check out.

Agreed. I don’t drive around and look for ammo for the same reason. Just not worth my time. I do need to head to gander outdoors as I have had descent lick with finding ammo there. It’s been a few months since I took a trip though.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a gun in .17WMR in addition to some more exotic high caliber ammo it's one of the few calibers that seems to be reliably in stock.

I think we hit the top. Lots of reports of ammo coming in better. Not great but popping up here and there. It will be some time before prices start to drop. By that time Biden will do something stupid and cause all this again.
