Our current electric infrastructure is aged and maxed out. Natural gas is excellent for emergency generators. Our house goes off grid several times a year for hours and days sometimes. People making these decisions and laws are totally clueless.

Then comes the day when some miscreants hack the grid.

In all my 63 years, natural gas has never suffered an outage.

That was the first thought that came to mind. The increase in demand would absolutely cripple the current power grid. Not to mention the average house electrical service does not have the capacity for electric heat and cooking. And the increase in power generation would offset any benefit of not using natural gas.

NPR ran a story on windmills off the coast of Mass. 20-30 miles out. . In china Mao put many important industries as far from the coast as possible.. He wanted them out of bombing range of his enemies ... What would happen to the windmills in a war situation... I understand we are now buying oil from Russia. Where does coke come from in steel making.. Coal... Talk about not being able to maintain a support system in a wartime environment folks. Democrats are laying a path of total surrender to anyone that can engage in a prolonged war. with us. I might be one of the few people out there that thinks about these situations. Banning wood stoves ,,,Soon to be here. Folks we will be in massive trouble very soon.

Mine must be in that range, too. It's so efficient that the vent is PVC. When running the air that comes out is "warm"; I wouldn't even call it hot.

Plans like this will have a slow uptake in cold climates because gas distribution is almost impervious to outage. When we lost power a few years back that March we were able to run our gas fireplace the entire time.
