CNN Blames Record Surge in Homicides on Police, Guns​

Responding to an FBI report on Monday that shows homicides have increased an unprecedented 30% over the past year, CNN Newsroom host Erica Hill sought to figure out why. Ultimately she concluded that it was the police themselves and guns.

Hill then shifted to guns: "...for the first time in decades the head of the CDC, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, telling CNN exclusively a month ago, when talking about gun violence specifically, that this is a serious public health threat. We know the CDC is restarting some of that funding, some of this research. Will looking at the root causes of gun violence, you think now, make a difference moving forward?"

Rosenfeld agreed that the mere existence of guns poses a problem:

Absolutely. We have to look at the underlying causes of violence generally, and firearm violence in particular. One clear problem in that regard is the sheer quantity of firearms available for misuse in our society. There's good evidence that firearm carrying in our major cities went up last year, and as more people carry firearms, more people will be shot and more will die.

I don’t blame the police but more the politicians. They allowed BLM to happen, they tied the hands of police, police felt either the protests instead of doing their real work, politicians empowered criminals, and the police were forbid from raiding drug houses because dealers don’t wear masks.

The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. Nearly 390,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving.
Notice they don't talk about deaths...
No liberals ever say we should ban cellphones to save lives...
Ask any truck driver and see how many drivers are on a cell phone pass him in a 10 mile stretch during a PM rush hour trip...

Even if we assume guns are somehow a higher cause of death than cars or cellphones + cars, why would it matter?

The point of 2A is a deterrent to tyranny, not the right to plink at a range or hunt for sport. All of these points are moot, and we should stop letting the conversation be steered in the direction of that they're unnecessary anymore. The intent is protection from our government, full stop.
