I don't get it. Why mess with perfection? Is the factory finish wearing?

Hell yes it is. Hydrodipped finish is not durable at all! I can scrape it of with my thumbnail.

Maybe not. But in the two years I've had it it has provided me with truly outstanding service so I think it deserves a new paint job. I sent a message to Daniel Defense to see if they would refinish it for me as I really like their new Deep Woods color. Maybe get it done under warranty. I doubt it though.

DD got back to me. They want me to send it in for a warranty evaluation. I would be ecstatic and mightly impressed if they Cerakoted it for me under warranty.

was the original pattern cerakote or hydrodip? if they did a totally different much more expensive coating for free I'd be impressed and may just have to start buying things from them.
