Quote: "I have owned it for about 6 months put 80 rounds through it"
My question is have there been any previous owners of the weapon.
It could well have 5000 rounds fired through it if that is the case.
The last fight I got into I took a sawed off Q stick to the guys head and I thought it was quite fair. A Detective friend of mine said I can't do that stuff when I brought the guy in. Go Figure
If that is what you believe. It's fine with me Bud. You are not going to change my mind in Stricklands case and I doubt I will change yours.
If by chance you ever end up in a situation like Stricklands I wish you well.
Will, there is a level that has to be reached before it becomes a deadly force issue. Cops get bottles, bricks and all sorts of things thrown at them. They get spit upon, beat up and everything else. They often get confronted by mobs, have molitov cocktails thrown at them. The list goes on and on.

QUOTE="Glenn B, post: 234867, member: 88"]So you are saying he had to have been attacked first to defend himself from what he believed was an imminent threat of death or severe bodily harm, is that it? If so, you had better check the laws on that one because otherwise you may wind up dead due to...
Howe and Strauss define the Millennial cohort as consisting of individuals born between 1982 and 2004. Other proposed dates for Millennials: According to Iconoclast, a consumer research firm, the first Millennials were born in 1978 define the Millennial cohort as consisting of individuals born...
Will, I can not make out exactly what is said. I am sure Strickland had the opportunity to state his case in court. Making a statement to the police is one thing and to someone on the street is another as you well know. Regardless in my opinion a self defense case has not been made. I don't know...
I do see what appears to be a girl holding something that is burning or perhaps that is the aerosol can in her hand. Some big black guy taking off his backpack after people are shouting he has a gun. I do not see the black guy approaching him as someone is holding him back.
All the above...
I just watched the video. and in the seconds leading up to him pulling his gun I see nothing that you mentioned. Perhaps you are looking at an earlier video which means little as his decision to pull his gun does not take that long, unless of course he is a very slow thinker.
Unlawful use of weapon
Make no mistake about it, he did attempt and in fact he did. Do you think for one second you can wave a gun a someone without breaking the law.

It woulda, it coulda , There you go again. It never happened except in his unreasonable mind at best. You make up scenarios that did not happen in this case.
When you said: One need only believe another person is using or about...
See my above edited post
(3) "Deadly physical force" means physical force that under the circumstances in which it is used is readily capable of causing death or serious physical injury.
I am not ignoring it but you take it out of context in this case.
Will, Lets get down to the crux of the issue here. The bottom line is what the Law reads and for your reading pleasure I will provide links.
Unlawful use of weapon
ORS 166.220 - Unlawful use of weapon - 2015 Oregon Revised Statutes
(1) A person commits the crime of unlawful use of a weapon if...
Of course an attacker dose not need to be armed for someone to fear for their life. People fear things for all kinds of reasons.
Some Crazy people fear for their lives because they saw a bug.
Nowhere in the link you posted can I find the word FEAR.
We all know she will never be convicted on a SBR. How many take down 22's are there that don't measure 26 inches.
The cops just wanted a felony charge as they had much of nothing.
I can tell you this. I could well have exited stage left in this situation but he chose to dilly dally around. I wonder if he did not have a weapon on him would he still dilly dally around. Think about what a REASONABLE PERSON WOULD DO! There lies the Crux of the issue.

I have both their rifle and pistol. Great shooters. Redid the trigger springs and polished the sears. Have both in 223 and 7-08. The 223 rifle will shoot thumbtacks at 100 yards all day long with 55gr ballistic tips. The rifles balance very well for offhand shooting. I had one problem with mine...

Let me just say this. When I fear for my life or someones else's I come out fighting. He is very lucky he is in Jail. Anyone there could have killed him
with just cause after he pulled his weapon and started pointing it at people.
I woulda, I coulda, I shoulda, but I screwed up and now everyone is in my face and I am scared so do I exit left and leave the area or confront these libs
like a real man. After I have pointed my weapon at them I will hang around and chat with a few .....LOL
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to Jail I...
OK, Here it goes.
(1) the act of defending one's person when physically attacked, as by countering blows or overcoming an assailant:
the art of self-defense. ....... Notice DWA that there is No physical attack on Strickland here in this case as stated in the above example
(2) a claim or plea...
Actually if you had read it correctly and understood the meaning of the definition and put it in proper context you would realize I did not make your point.
Do you think you can legally pull a gun in a simple fist fight because you are loosing. How about someone beating your head in while your laying on the ground. How about someone putting the boot to you? How about someone using a club on you. If you do not know what deadly force or reasonable...

No one disputes having a right to defend. You fail to mention of those 21 people who was the threat? All, One, None. If you think your ass is about to get kicked, pulling a gun before the ass kicking begins just might land you in Jail. Do you suppose he thought of Antifa mobs and the potential...
Great post Will. I do hope you understand the LAW now. If not I would be happy to explain it to you in more detail as to why this fool is behind bars
with no pee-stol.
If you don't care why have you have been pushing " surrounded? " I do not see him defending himself, I simply see him pointing a weapon at people
without just cause. Had he been assaulted with deadly force he could draw his weapon. READ THE LAW and don't make excuses for some fool
just because...
Buy a good set of glasses or come up with a different definition of surrounded.
Surround
verb (used with object)
1.
to enclose on all sides; encompass:
She was surrounded by reporters.
2.
to form an enclosure round; encircle:
A stone wall surrounds the estate.
3.
to enclose (a body of troops...
Crit, Anyone who carries a weapon should know the laws pertaining to the use of force and use of deadly force. Many think they are Rambo
when they strap on a gun. It's a big mistake.
I watched the video and at no time just before he pulled his gun was he totally surrounded. He was moving in a backwards direction and no one was stopping his rearward movement. Lets call an ace and ace and a SPADE A SPADE. Don't be making up stuff that did not happen.
Surrounded hardly. I do not see him fully encapsulated at any time. I don't see anyone beating on him. I don't see anyone with a weapon trying to harm him. CritCalt just left a good link. Read it.
When you carry a gun you must also know the law and use "Discretion" in an intelligent way. Now think of it from the other side. You are in the crowd and something is going on so you get closer to see what is happening and next thing you know some guy is pointing a gun at you.
Now you are...
