Please stop with the generic useless titles. This goes for everyone, not just OP. It's in the rules and we're seriously getting really fed up with it. We should not be chasing people around having to edit titles (and then finding the inevitable duplicate threads since no one reports them) this...
I don't want to drag this off topic, but even after all these years it strikes me as odd when people refer everything back to SAFE act. We had rather strict gun laws and an AWB in NY before it, and it had nothing to do with any changes regarding NFA items.
Well, in NY law a shockwave falls under "other" on 4473, but an AOW (like a Serbu shorty for example) doesn't. As I recall, @Eddie Gunks was waiting on an ATF response on people trying to acquire AOW Serbus for a year or more before he left.
To be clear, I wouldn't use or endorse these kinds of holsters either, but there is a point and it isn't to reduce print. They're intended to keep the gun appropriately aligned in a pants pocket to be drawn more easily; rather than shifting around and potentially not being vertically straight...
As an example, think of those briefcases that used to be made that could house an MP5 that was capable of being fired while inside it. That falls under the same AOW status that a fully enclosed wallet holster would. I remember seeing them many years ago. They were a fully enclosing 'wallet'...
Not really a grey area, just people confused by weird ATF regs. Those holsters are legal, without an AOW tax stamp, because the firearm is partially exposed. You can see the slide. There have been other 'wallet holsters' that more completely mask that it's a firearm (but still allow it to be...
For f's sakes people, DON'T use generic titles that could be anything at all. This is both in the site rules.. and is just common damn sense, and yet every single day we have to address it; quite often multiple times a day.
Save your commentary for the content (in this case the thread was titled...
Well he is now. I guess she convinced him he was anti-gun.
"I’m a self-proclaimed alpha male who owns 67 firearms,” Penn told a star-studded crowd at his 2014 “Help Haiti Home Gala” in Beverly Hills, as reported by the Daily Mail. “But I’ve had my mind changed about guns by a strong woman, a...

Apparently while they were dating in 2014 she made him give up his guns. Somehow they got turned into...
It's sounds like you're looking for a relatively high-end production gun for target shooting in 9mm, and the three guns that I'd currently recommend most for that have already been mentioned here..,.well, maybe I'd add an STI into that mix.
Out of those three though, my personal preference...
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that not only has it been suggested to us before, but we've almost certainly mentioned it at the table at some point. I can't recall or figure any particular reason we would have decided against it. It's probably something we said, "Sure, that's a perfectly reasonable...
I think an SKS is a perfectly good choice for a first rifle; especially with NY gun laws as an issue. You'll likely want something else in time, but it's a very good platform to 'cut your teeth on'.
The only thing I can't stand about them is the prices they're going for these days. Maybe I'm...
Too many options is quite cumbersome. Even adding the FREE feels like pushing it with the size of the buttons and list. It wasn't even especially needed. It's not like FREE in the title was confusing or anything before. I just kind of thought it was a nice option to better display someone being...
I've noticed recently that people have offered things for free to other users in the classifieds. That is the correct section certainly, but since users must choose a prefix/icon in a started classified thread (either F/S / WTT /WTB) then those generous folks have had to use F/S generally and...
Ha ! While I too am sometimes shocked by some people's ridiculously staunch and thick-headed opinions on some of the silliest and completely irrelevant things to their own lives, I'm not sure that I'd agree that age is the most significant factor.
I've owned some ok ones, but hands down the best IMO is Beltman. I'm surprised to even see a gunbelt thread go even this far without mentioning them. GREAT belts and just as good customer service.
Belts are custom made, but the quickship option is just fine unless you want something super fancy...
Personally, I don't really see the point... buuut, if you just like and want something then there doesn't necessarily have to be a logical point to it.
l believe somewhere around 2005 or thereabouts I bought a fairly inexpensive Remington (rebranded Baikal) coach gun just for the novelty...
Almost an understatement. ProMag makes all their money on being essentially a trap for newbies; a lesson to be learned really.
If not buying factory mags, generally your lowest cost to highest quality winner is going to be Mec-Gar. In fact, Mec-Gar produces a lot of branded 'factory' OEM mags...
I just met him last week. Wasn't aware his shop existed until @1075tech mentioned it on here somewhere and I stopped in. The place is less than 20 mins from me and I'd never heard of it before.

"In September 2016, Goode-Ford (the shooter) was charged with possessing a loaded gun, 100 baggies of heroin and over an ounce of crack cocaine after jumping out of a...
I'm honestly not sure what that means.
Anyway, wouldn't pay either one I think.
Can't send to me as I'm not an FFL or licensed gunsmith; just a guy who's done many lockwork/trigger jobs for almost 20 years (and have been told by at least half a dozen 'real' gunsmiths that they were quite...
S&W revolvers and their lockwork and adjustments are pretty much my primary expertise in gun work. The truth is that if all else is right then the strain screw should be able to be relieved to as much as 1/3 (yes, I'm simplifying a lot) of it's pressure on the mainspring before you should be...
Yeah, sure, I was sort confused what I was looking at here on the Nighthawk though.
If you look at the Nighthawk double stack page, the pics do appear to show a 2011 style gun.
https://www.nighthawkcustom.com/pistols/doublestack
It's weird that they don't mention or point out anything in their...
Or is it ? Now that I look at it again , the one shown in the video does look like the STI design , and I do know that STIs patent ran out or something and other companies were supposed to be able to start making similar designs.. but I'm confused exactly what this is because the Nighthawk...
I think the issue there is that he's referring to an actual 2011, while the pistol you've shown here isn't one. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else refer to any double stack 1911 as a 2011, because a 2011 is very specifically a patented STI design that has some very distinct and significant...
I'm not well-versed enough on region specific NYC laws to give you much assistance in that regard, but surely there are others about who can offer more. I might suggest asking pertinent questions (perhaps even the same questions) in a separate thread in the rifles section. Simply because not...
Nope, it was all of them at the time I believe. There was a specific incident that was reported on largely, and maybe that one was a certain list, but there already websites hosting the full list. As I seem to recall it, which county it was seemed to have something to do with how much info was...
I'm genuinely surprised to see anyone here talk well of them. ProMags in general (on any platform) are probably the worst overall mags on the market. I've had lots of conversations over the years with experienced shooters talking about how ProMags are specifically manufactured as cheapie traps...
*Sigh* FFS people. Marketplace threads are not discussion threads. How is this so hard ? Was up to page 2 of "Nice gun" type comments. If you like someone's pictures then click a like, AND/OR start a discussion in the main forums about it if you want to.
Unless you are interested in doing the...
Yeah, that's what I meant by versatile. That and a wide variety of projectiles for the same reason. I've seen people load it down to have basically no noticeable recoil at all in a nice hefty wheelgun for plinking with flat wadcutters and such, but then it can be taken all the way up to 38+Ps...
I don't reload ..and haven't fired a round in years either for that matter, but I've always loved 38spl. Particularly so out of a gun built for .357mag, where you've got that bit of extra weight. For people who do reload though it's a fantastically versatile platform as I understand it.
We'd like to formally welcome @dsdmmat to the NYGF staff. Thus far it's only been the three of us Admin/Owners/Friends officially, but dsdmmat has been helping us already for quite a while by running (and 'secret' moderating) the sections to do with the monthly/yearly/etc target challenges. This...
I'm just seeing the first of this now, but there were a crapload of new accounts awaiting approval just now (all from the last hour or so and many of them not in NY). I'm assuming it has something to do with this.
Old thread now I know, but I never got any shooting photos..heh. She hasn't actually fired it yet, but she was very happy with it. It was actually more of a surprise than I realized. I kind of thought she knew what was up, but I took her down to my buddy's place for the transfer to her a few...
