Here’s some interesting info direct from the statute:
SECTION 400.03
Sellers of ammunition
Penal (PEN) CHAPTER 40, PART 4, TITLE W, ARTICLE 400
§ 400.03 Sellers of ammunition.
…
5. If the statewide license and record database notifies the licensee
or seller that the information available to...
But as a FFL you’re complying with the new BGC regs, right? Of course you are- you don’t want to lose your business, your guns and quite possibly your freedom. It’s noble to talk about not complying, never spending another dollar at a NYS gun shop, etc, but who is that hurting? It’s certainly...
I’ve always loved the “I’m a grown man,” line. Talk about insecure! To even consider saying that out loud SCREAMS “I’m just a feeble little boy.” What a joke.
“Son- that’s just not smart. That’s like spending a dollar to save a dime.” -My Dad
How ‘bout “If it saves one life, it’s a beginning. If it saves a hundred, it’s worthwhile. If it saves a thousand, it’s progress. If it diminishes, ruins or ends another life, it’s all just ideological...
But what happened to those laws that restricted being armed in town? That’s a teeny tiny detail that was somehow overlooked. ;)
Hint: those were TERRITORIES, not STATES. Not the same thing.
What brand lower, what brand parts are in it, who built it, did you get it all new or is it used, etc? That lower is ganked. Needs to be dismantled and reassembled. Put a different trigger in it (if you have one sitting around) and run it again.

Bring more than 2 cartons and the law says pay taxes. Pretty clear. And paying a duty when you buy your cancer dicks on the Res is still a tax! Where do you think that duty tax goes? Also, take note of the section “When to file.”
Don’t EVER overlook the part of the ammo BGC that requires caliber, quantity, mfg, lot number, and remember that this info will be retained by NYS. Is it a poll tax? Is it legal? Is it an infringement? Doesn’t matter- it’s here regardless.
Another thing that’s happening already is that a...
You think a court case in our favor would be honored, obeyed, respected, complied with by NYS? I know you’re simply pointing out the holes in the law that are begging to be enjoined/restrained/struck down. But NYS is a python- the more you struggle, the tighter it gets.
The ammo background check is a registry, plain and simple. If you lawfully own guns, you’ve gone through the 4473 and are not a prohibited person. If you’re buying ammo and submitting to the BGC, it’s just not likely that you’re going to be a prohibited person. The plan is to find out who has...
Looks like someone beat the NYSP BGC deadline. Hope the shop was well insured and the dirtbags who perpetrated this crime suffer mercilessly. Gently, of course, and without having to cough up an egregious amount of bail money. I’m not heartless.
Agreed. I’ve known this was going to happen for quite a while, which is why I started this thread. Hopefully it helps people prepare for the future delays in buying ammo. Buy early, buy often!
I appreciate your info. I’d say Thank You, but it seems like “No, thanks,” is more appropriate. For the regular shooters: Buckle up, stock up (lots more) NOW, and hold on tight.
My brother has a Shield Plus. I have a SIg 365X. We shoot together a lot. The S&W is a nice edc gun. It’s accurate, cycles tons of different brands of ammo, runs great. I love my 365X. I wouldn’t own a Glock if someone gave it to me free.
To clarify, the entire body of that diatribe was a quote from NYSRPA, not Saltwater60, just so no one is confused about the message. Saltwater60 only wrote the top line. Carry on. Concealed, of course.
Yes, that is the subject of this thread. It is very unlikely to go into effect on the 13th. More probable that it is delayed at least a couple weeks at the very soonest. Quite possibly longer. The legislated go-live date of 13 Sept, 2023 gas not been officially rescinded as of 8/16/23.
I started the thread, and the same system will be in place for firearm AND amm7nition background checks. Both transactions have been predicted to begin on 13 September, 2023. Welcome to the forum.
The FFL’s license/account numbers for NYS FFL’s will no longer be active in the NICS system for background checks, from what I’ve been told. That will require calling the NYSP for bgc’s instead of using the NICS system directly.
From the fbi.gov website:
“
Thirteen Full POC states have agencies acting on behalf of the NICS in a Full POC capacity. These POC states have designated agencies to conduct firearm background checks for FFLs in their respective state by electronically accessing the NICS.
• Full POC states...
I see troopers at the gas station all the time, getting coffee… you don’t need to be an uneducated idiot to make contact. It’s as easy as talking to the person in front of you buying milk at Stewart’s. I’ve asked them questions about the CCIA several times. Interestingly, they’ve always said...
Isn’t 1-855-LAW-GUNS the NYS www.troopers.ny.gov and www.gunsafety.ny.gov help line? What do you mean they control “7 other POC countries”? Hey man, you pointed out the “trolling and misinformation,” so I’m just asking for clarification.
Ruger Super Wrangler is also a great choice. Soooooo much fun, inexpensive, but a solid little revolver that can shoot short, long and Magnum (with the WMR cylinder, included.)
Ruger SR22 is a decent choice, also.
The P320 is a hugely popular competition gun. All sorts of use, practice, competitions… yet no spontaneous explosions, dismantling or random guns firing in cases, holsters, cages, laying at ready on a bench, and on and on. Give a cop a gun, though, and look the fuck out.
Yes, your point about capacities is valid. The advice you’ve been given in this thread, though, refers to NOT gaining any capacity or advantage by going through the hassle of acquiring a variant of the venerable 365 series which provides no actual benefit compared to a P365XL with an aftermarket...
That Icarus grip module is nice. So are supercars from Ferrari, McLaren, and Bugatti. Imagine being told that you can buy one of those vehicles, but only put 10 gallons of gas in at a time, and never have more than 10 (plus one in the combustion chamber.) What a waste of a high performance...
No problem. I know how it can be to want a certain gun. Being able to make it work is a great feature of the entire 365 lineup. An X Macro in NYS is a lot like having a house that you’re not allowed to use 4 out of 5 rooms, but you still want that specific house. I get it. Hope you can find...
