To my knowledge, unless you are in law enforcement or security, there is no provision in NYS law for handgun open carry. As nonsensical as it sounds, you must keep your firearm concealed until the time you are about to discharge it at your intended target.

I was camping and fly fishing in Allegheny County two weeks ago and there was a lot of this around but I was informed by DEC this was not Hogweed. Did my best to steer clear of it nonetheless.
