The 1911 mags did not fit in my colt. Super tight and wouldn't eject without pulling the mag out by hand. They fit fine in my friends gun so I gave them to him.
Try prying the mag guts out through the top of the mag. Use plastic shim to deform the mag body slightly over the mag release while pulling it out. Should come out. New mag will pop right in. I've used vice grips before too. Mean arms loaders used to come with a shim to do it.

Just seen a can/golfball launcher upper for sale around 150 bucks. They use blanks and in no way can accept a normal round. They claim you can shoot a can 100 yards which I think could be kind of fun. Comes with an atf letter saying it's good to go.
