Latency is a serious issue whenever distance is large. Until we have "warp drive" or worm holes for transporting signals (radio waves), we are bound by the fundamental that in the best case (no propagation delays, perfect atmospheric conditions), we are limited by the speed of light. That...
I thought I had posted this here but can't find it so here goes.
I make semi-frequent trips to Vermont for skiing from the Albany area. Any recommendations on local stores with competitive ammo prices?
I also make a couple-time-a-year trips through PA to SW PA. Same question, what places...
I am sorry for what you are going through. But I will tell you I will never buy another round of ammo in NYS and very unlikely to ever buy another rifle or shotgun here either.
So given that I make occasional road trips to SW PA and live fairly close to Vermont, what physical stores would be suggested to do a decent sized occasional purchase? One of the things I liked about Target was their sometimes good prices on cases.
I don't have a lot of faith that Zeldin will be able to roll back the crazy sh*t already passed and am planning on leaving this disaster of a state.
Having said that, I would walk over hot coals in bare feet to vote for him. To think that it doesn't matter, or he isn't pro-gun enough is...
I'm at the point where I don't care, I am tired of the excuses. The criteria should be simple - no felony or serious violence conviction = shall issue. The process rules should be known up front and transparent in terms of the decision factors.
If there are problems with youth records not...
Did you read the case?
In approximately 2018, Alan Taveras applied for a license to possess a rifle
or shotgun for self-protection at his residence in the Bronx, New York. Licensing
officers within the New York City Police Department denied Taveras’s
application, citing his August 2011 arrest...
There are three ways a case can make it to the supreme court:
1. (The usual say) - a case from a lower federal (inferior) court is appealed. That is, decided in a district court, appealed to the appellete court, and appealed to Scotus via writ of centori (latin for "to be more fully informed")...
Off topic: So, I haven't bought any new guns in a couple/few years. My last purchase was a Ruger Carbine (takedown 9MM).
What would be good to get before the law kicks in?
Simple answer, a court needs to force constitutional carry until the state is able to have a "reasonable" (yeah, I know) process.
Until the 2nd circuit (or Scotus) puts the hammer down, this shit will continue.
The "good news" is that the more things like this (no licenses for 7+ months)...
PA: No state taxes on pension, social security, IRA/401K/etc distributions. One bad thing: They do have a death/inheritance tax (4.5% for transfers to direct descendants (lineal heirs), 12% for transfers to siblings, and 15% for transfers to other heirs)
Since the character references require references from NYS, that discriminates against new residents to the state. Under May Issue, they can say tough tittles. But under Shall Issue, one would think that a NICS check should suffice (or allowing for out of state references).
All I am...
If you get into skeet/trap/sporting clays, you will be shooting many many thousands of rounds through the gun. Sporting clays = 100 + shells, each round of skeet 25, each round of trap 25. It is easy to do 6-8 rounds of skeet/trap on any day.
I have a bunch of shotguns, but if I were to...
That's why I thought something like this would be a good and necessary test case. Someone who just moved here wouldn't have four local references, so that in itself should violate shall issue reasonableness constraints. (It might be different if they allowed the references to be from any...
So...
While I own quite a few firearms (rifles, shotguns) I've never applied for a NY pistol permit. I never did so because of my feelings on NY "may issue" vs. my relatives in PA who were able to get a concealed carry (LTC) in 20 minutes by visiting the local sheriff.
Given the case outcome...
I just here for all of the comments that he deserved what he got by all the smart people who think ordinary people should be a walking dictionary on state by state gun laws.
Yes, my statement is a bit harsh. And yes, it sounds like this dude made some mistakes. But I have yet to see a...
My submission:
In the area on why the law should be opposed:
There are three primary reasons:
1. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably...
Even if she voted no, it would have still be 50-49 and he would be confirmed. He would also be confirmed on a 50-50 vote, as VP Pence gets to cast the tie breaker.
My father killed Nazi's, as did several of my uncles. It has historical significance, and should be saved. This is not the same as someone buying it to say "Heil Hitler" to it all day.
Plenty of providers out there. BitTorent: plenty of seeders maybe even including some folks from this forum ;) and other sites. There is even a github project to clone the fosscad mirror in four easy steps.
One can spin up a server outside of the USA for peanuts these days (e.g. under $5...
I am not a fan of spectrum by any means...but just once I would love to see somebody basically to say FUAC and FUNY. In this case, what if they just cease operations in sixty days and turn off ALL of their NY state cable and Internet subscribers. Wouldn't that be fun?
Eh, I've had a passport forever, which I use even when I fly domestically. Just easier than pulling out my license. One of the first things I did for my child too, since we go to Canada frequently.
papers please.
List of NYS Chartered banks: New York State Chartered Institutions as of December 31, 2012
If you are a depositor of one of these banks, I'd suggest you make it clear to them that if they do anything to discriminate against 2A organizations, you will no longer be a customer.
I just wonder how this would have played out had the rifle in question been a perfectly legal NYS neutered AR-15 variant in his position with a bunch of 10-round mags. Me thinks he still would have been arrested, well because.
PA has a history of both D and R governors. Before the idiot Wolf (D), it was Corbett (R), before him Rendell (D), and before him Schweiker (R), and before him Ridge (R), and before him Casey (D), then Thornburgh (R), and Shapp (D). And so on. PA is typically a D state but has a significant...
Great idea!
Or just a Walk out to Support the Right to Bear Arms day. Just like the 3/14 walkout day, this one can be on Thursday 3/15. Our expectations of the school district is that they will support it equally, with the same consideration.
If there is enough probable cause that someone is off their rocker and a danger, they should not be on the street. It isn't a matter of them having guns, they could be equally as dangerous with a truck, with gasoline, with tree stump remover plus ... and so on.
So if "compromise" is just...
I am looking forward to give a test on that date with no makeups allowed. The questions will be super easy, I'd be surprised if any of the people in the classroom don't get an A. Unfortunately for those missing class, F to you.
Arm the teachers now at 80%. :)
Not to derail this thread, but anyone know if the New Yorkastan version of the PCC is available to order/in stock. I have a weakness for take-downs and would like to pick one up.
