For my SKS, I keep my right hand on the grip and reach over with my left, using the meat of my palm to draw it back and release. For my Ruger PCC, I just switch the charging handle to the left side so I can keep my trigger hand in place.
Also, for what it’s worth, I live in Nassau so it’d be an easy scoop, Im just having trouble figuring out exactly what you have. It’s probably me…long week/weekend.
Bump, plus a pic. Super psyched with it…looks like a ‘53’ish receiver and bolt (according to people smarter than I), with a ‘51 barrel and USGI stock.
Still no food for it, though!
Ahh, that’s a bummer! You got it directly from CMP?
I haven’t yet taken delivery of it, but I’ll let you know when I do. Looks like the serial number that CMP gave me in my order puts it in 1956 H&R production.
So my Service Grade Garand finally hit my FFL, and I’ve got nothing to feed it! In Nassau, looking for Garand food. Have cash plus a box of Federal 150gr 30-30 if you’re looking for a little trade action.
edit-I’ll also take some en blocs off of you if you have em.
Hey folks. I tried to order some 762x54r from primary arms, and received an email asking for my FFL’s info. I asked them why, as I’ve purchased ammo to my door less than a month ago, and my guy just replied that he didn’t know, but they received a “memorandum” banning ammo sales unless through...
Stock sold!
Complete upper+BCG+strike industries charging handle= $600 shipped. Have yourself a complete, featureless upper that is literally guaranteed by BA to shoot MOA or better.
Bump! 650 takes the complete barreled upper, stock, and BCG. Add a lower, and you’ve got yourself a rifle that probably shoots better than you do:D
The trade offer in my OP is off the table, as I just ordered an upper directly from BCM…yikes… haha.
Items located on Long Island. Would greatly prefer face-to-face, but will ship at additional cost with payment via PayPal.
These items would be a great opportunity for my fellow ban-state denizens to get right into a featureless AR that groups toight like toiger.
BA factory-assembled upper. 18”...
I’m a brown belt in BJJ, and I definitely recommend attaining a level of proficiency— at least a blue belt— for everyone, especially people who carry daily. All the guns and ammo in the world can’t help you if someone bigger and more skilled than you closes the distance before you can squeeze...
Oof, well I’ll gladly trade ya some dollar bills!
My guitar collection is actually mostly basses, as I’m primarily a bass player.
As for six strings, there’s not really a ton of room to get rid of stuff; in fact, I’d like to pick some more up! right now, I’m at one tele, one Les Paul, one...
I’ll start a thread detailing some of the fun, but just to hold y’all over...forgive the messy workspace. My gun stuff shares a space with my guitar stuff, and there’s some other miscellaneous stuff piled in there at the moment too.
Bump/update:
I’ve got my paperwork in at CMP for a Garand, just waiting to hear back.
Picked up an SKS that I’ve had to do some work to, and I LOVE it.
Does anyone have a solid Mosin they’re looking to get rid of before I go to GunJoker?
I’d build, for sure! I’m all thumbs and probably actually semi-moronic, and I’ve put a few together with the help of the folks on this page.
Second the Aero lower...they have a few features that make the build just a bit easier. From there, figure out your goals and let it fly.
Got in on the overpriced PSA batch. Magazine follower is broken, so last round bolt hold open is unreliable at best. Don’t feel like dealing with the repair for now. Anyone have a stock 10rd SKS mag that works? I’m pretty sure they’re interchangeable across countries of origin, but if it matters...
ding ding!
Grabbed my first milsurp acquisition, a Chinese SKS. I probably overpaid for it, but I saw my shot and took it. And now, we start the cleanup (Well, tomorrow).
Finally got my Larue MBT-2!
After A/B’ing a RA-140 single stage with a Geissele G2S two stage between two builds, I’ve realized that I just prefer two stage triggers. Ordered in feb, came today.
I’m a sucker for cool packaging, and this delivers in that department. Can’t wait to get it in...
I appreciate the suggestion, but I’m really looking for shooters in the models that I’ve listed. I’m honestly not too familiar with the history of that particular rifle, but I’ll do some research.
That said, I’m mostly looking for a Mosin and/or an SKS. I figure I’ll just get on the CMP...
Nah, I figured, and I do appreciate the perspective. It’s definitely about the history aspect for me. I have cheaper shooters, and I know I can buy modern rifles that shoot the same/similar rounds more accurately and reliably for fractions of the cost.
Shitty time to plunge into something...
I know. There’s just this modern day phobia of snail mail/personal information floating around in the ether. Plus, the whole 4-6 month waitlist thing really throws a wrench in my impulsivity.
Regardless, I just joined the Garand collectors association...might as well get the ball rolling.
That’s what I’m hearing, though I have gotten mixed messages. Some folks are saying they’ve all dried up, others are saying exactly what you are; that it’s really the only way to come into a Garand at a reasonable cost. The wait kills me, haha.
Frankly, it’s my favorite, too. The history, the lines, the round it shoots...I just dig it. I do eventually plan on having the entire list at some point, but this is my first foray.
Edited to reflect my singular focus on a decent Mosin
Evening, folks!
I’ve always been into military history, and now that I’ve got my current builds/needs squared away, I’d like to scoop up my NEXT surplus rifle. Some models I’m into:
Mosin
I’m not necessarily looking for rarity/collectors...
Which would you go for, assuming similar cost? I’m itching for a steel-eating combloc semi auto. SKS is just a cool old school piece of machinery, and the stripper clip setup works well for our “laws.” The AK is obviously more modern, but neutered via spur grip (or Thordsen/NYLAK, but likely...
This is interesting...I’ve got a few boxes of 30-30 that I wanted to hold onto, but looking at current prices, it’s tough not to jump on that gravy train!
