I shot in my first match this past weekend. I shot a USPSA Action Pistol match in the Production class. Used my M&P 2.0. Had a lot of fun and I’m definitely hooked.
So with that I want my decision to be a practical one. I really want a 1911. I like the look and feel of it in my hand. I was...
Dare I say it... I’m leaning towards the 9mm. My 2 Smith’s are 9mm. I really like the 2.0. It fits my hand nicely. The ammo is cheaper and I always have some on hand. Lol.
I like the Kimber's a lot. But I'm only going on looks. Haven't fired one yet. Thinking of going to Gun For Hire so I can rent a couple 1911's there and try them out. They rent the Kimber.
A 3" barrel was never a thought to me. 5" all the way. LOL Life is WAY too busy for me!! My son plays travel hockey and my daughter is on a travel baton twirling team. I do't get any me time. But that's ok, my family comes first.
1. Most friends have told me that I HAVE to get a .45 if I plan on getting a 1911. I was actually thinking of getting it in 9mm actually. I'm very confused about this. I don't want to regret whatever decision I make on this.
2. I was leaning towards the 9mm for the exact same reason. Plus the...
I like the looks of the Kimber. Never fired one though. That’s a very reasonably priced gun!!!
I was leaning towards the Sprinfield because I hear it’s more competition ready out of the box. Haven’t shot any matches yet, but hope to in the near future.
Yeah I don’t know how many more would be in my future. I definitely want a 5 inch barrel. Most friends that I’ve asked suggest a .45 as well.
Those Dan Wesson’s look real nice too!!
Never shot a 10mm. Would love to. I know that’s an expensive round. As for reloading, I don’t. Something I’d like to do if I had more time. But right now it’s next to impossible with work and family.
Yes unfortunately it’ll be used for the range. No carry for me in this shorty city!!! LOL. Only got a few years left to retire and then make my escape!!!
Just a quick background. I got my NYC license 7 months ago. Since that time I've purchased 2 handguns. I have a S&W M&P 2.0 and the Shield, both in 9mm. I shoot whenever I can get to the range, which isn't as often as I like because of work and family commitments.
That said, I've been doing...
Hi all. I have a few questions. I live in NYC and just got my approval letter for a target permit. Bright and early Monday morning, I'll be at 1PP to get my purchase order and then hopefully buying a gun to have inspected the same day to avoid a second trip. I know when transporting any guns to...
Thank you. I definitely plan on getting some training. Haven't been around guns since I used to hunt, and that was rifles. Not too familiar with handguns living in the city. Only had the opportunity to shoot when we used to go upstate to my friends property. Luckily, I have a club/range...
FINALLY!!!!!
It took 8 and a half months, (for my target permit), but I finally got my approval letter!!! I never thought this day was coming. LOL :rock:
I'm heading to PA as soon as I put my retirement papers in!! Oh I'm sure I'd have a nice little stash of cash for some guns by the time I get my permit!!!!
For an update;
Spoke to my investigating officer last week. When I gave them my app number, they giggled telling me that I'm not even in...
Living in NYC it tough... Filed for my premise/target permit almost 4 months ago. Still haven't heard a word from 1PP. I know and understand about the scandal that took place last year when it came to obtaining permits/carry permits in the city. That said, when I was finally able to get in...
As a newbie waiting for my interview and HOPEFUL approval at some point, it's nice to know that there are people out there willing to help someone new out.
Some things never change I guess... I'm like a little kid waiting for Christmas!! LOL
I just googled NY gum forum and you guys popped up.
Thanks for the welcome and replies. Much appreciated.
Hi all. New To the forum. I live in NYC, & filed my permit app just today at 1 PP.
Can anyone tell me approximately how long it will take before I'm contacted by the investigating officer?
Thanks,
Joe
