They know his name, they have his fingerprints, I'm sure they know his S.S. ID and driver's license. With dementia joe willing to put every resource at their disposal, surely they would know by now if he had legally purchased the pistol. Can't they just to a NICs check to see? Trace the serial number of the pistol?
Virginia doesn't require a permit to purchase or possess a pistol, only if you are concealed carrying (from the quick research I did).
And the guy was found with a kill list in his pocket, and other employees said he was paranoid.

I find it very curious that so little information about this shooter has come out so far. In particular, how is it that the Chesapeake PD could release this picture of the shooter,- but at the same time all of the media outlets are saying that he did not have a criminal record???
Look at his expression, and especially his eyes in this picture they released. To me it speaks of a deep seated anger, bordering on crazy.

Thought for the day: When a straight white male randomly shoots a bunch of people, the cries are for more gun control and AW bans but when a non-white individual shoots up a bunch of people at work the cries are for "a solution to workplace violence" (not mention of gun control).
