this is going to happen more and more. If you have any signs, like anti-safe act signs in your yard or windows, I would remove them. If your neighbor is a douche bag liberal and doesn't approve of your guns, he/she can call in a "red flag" and have all your firearms removed. and we all know, once "they" have your guns, you will never get them back, ever

Well you might get them back , if you fight in court , spend a couple grand on an attorney, pay a few hundred for a psychological evaluation, a few hundred on a drug and alcohol evaluation and a couple years later you miiiiiiight get them back .

Exercising my constitutional rights should not make me a criminal.
The morning that I went to vote I told the wife that I am done compromising with her.
This will be the last time that I vote in NYS. And I will move back to SC without her if necessary.
We have been married for 29 years. But I simply can not live somewhere where someone can simply make a unfounded accusation about me and get my guns confiscated. This "Red Flag Law" is my personal line in the sand.
I'm not fucking around with Cuomo's bullshit any longer.
Additional gun control laws on top of what was already shoved down our throats is not acceptable to me.

Cuomo's power is unchecked and he will hold the throne for as long as he chooses to.
The writing on the wall is so clear that a blind man can see it.
No I am not "running" away, that's not it at all... But I am "looking" for a better life than I can have here in NYS.

On top of all that, I find out yesterday that my employer is seriously thinking about closing the shop and starting over in Texas. That's just fucking great... I do most everything right in life, I have made a pretty good life for myself IMO.
And now my marriage and my employment is unraveling because of the dirty rat bastards in Albany.
I just had to get that off my chest...

Man I’m sorry to hear how it’s affecting you from multiple directions. We as liked minded gun enthusiasts are all fed up . If your job is moving no one can blame you for moving too . You gotta do what’s best for you .
I’d love to move however my wife and I in our early 40’s , good careers , aging parents near by as well as other family and friends. For us it’s just not a time we can make a move . I guess in a naive or just don’t want except it way I try to convince myself this state I was born and raised in will balance out somehow.

If the police show up on your doorstep with a warrant to collect your guns, pulling a gun on the officers is not the right response. It sucks but there is a legal way to fight this in court. Sounds like maybe this guy should not have had a gun.

Idk from what I’ve read about this story from different news sources I see this scenario as a 60 year old man is woken by loud pounding on his door early in the morning. Man in a sleepy daze grabs shotgun to investigate the ruckus. Man opens door , realizing it’s the police he places gun against the wall next to door. For no apparent reason officers tell him they are there to take all his firearms . In a non aggressive way he clutched his firearm as to prevent the officer from taking it . Officer grabs gun , a scuffle happens, an accidental discharge occurs and 2nd officer shoots and kills the man out of natural reflex .
I could be wrong but I can see it going done in a way similar as described above . Was the man wrong to clutch his gun ... of course. Did the man deserve to be shot and killed of course not .
This kinda law is not only a danger to LE but the public as well .

His argument is that rape is fine if there are more rapists than victims.

That was his entire test - if there's a net positive over the evil / suffering, then it is moral and ethical and lawful.
That argument is exactly what's used to protect criminal acts committed under the color of law. That argument is the essence of collectivism.

I think it might be time to move my handguns out of state. I have a couple of places where I can LEGALLY leave my handguns with friends.
at least if they are out of the state **they** can't steal them.

These so called “red flag” laws will only make the situation worse. But, as it is in NY right now, they can already take your handguns on a mere accusation. I know, because it happened to me. After a man who had threatened my life on multiple occasions came to my home one night AFTER he had been warned to stay away, I stood my ground on my own front lawn, and kept him in the street. How? Well, while armed (and without drawing or in any way intimating I was armed), I ordered him to stay in his car while I called 911.
The cops came; disarmed me during their call; sent him away without arresting him (they should have); and then they returned my handgun to me.
Two days later, my local police chief sent a letter to the PPO demanding that they revoke my permit. Why. Because he didn’t like my “attitude” because I had the nerve to use profanity to order that asshole to keep back WHILE I was armed and carrying, with an extra mag while on MY OWN PROPERTY!
My permit was suspended and I had to hire a lawyer and go to court to get it reinstated and get my guns back from my local PD after even more hassle and delay. It took almost 6 months overall.
Red flag laws will only give more assholes an even easier way to screw with lawful gun owners. FUAC!
