A small forum? Well, I prefer "tight knit".

Besides, only one seems a lot more dead, even though it seems a similar amount of users are active at any given time. Which is a bit strange to me!

Anyone willing to refresh my memory? What exactly went down? Didn't the old owner(s) decide to sell, but it went to a company that's basically anti-gun and so the future of the site was in question? Something like that?

I don't think we should talk about the reasons anymore, but basically yes (or rather the umbrella media company that owned that company puts money into anti-gun things).

Don't let the numbers fool you though...

Our 1500 members on our Xenforo platform doesn't include any spammers or banned accounts. Eh.. another place's 'member count' on the vBulletin software does include a lot of all of that over 10 years or whatever. That's not really as important as active members though. I watch all new accounts like a hawk and only allow 'real' individuals.. 'They' list active members as active by being logged on in some period of time in the past. Might be a month (I think it is), might be longer, I don't remember exactly. I don't believe we keep any offline 'active' member list in that fashion. 'They' also include spiders/robots in their 'Guests'. We do not, and show that separation of non-logged in guests and web spiders. Our current members online right before posting this was 97; theirs was 3. Our guests (viewers not signed up/in) are 150 , not counting 22 robots (separately listed). Thiers: 68, including robots.

The point is, our numbers are honest and transparent and we're actually the most active NY based gun forum by a large margin. The numbers can be deceiving.. but ours aren't.
