10mm is a great caliber, just going to cost you a bit more to shoot.

I like mine so far. Definitely fun to shoot. I have a Glock g40, I was going to hunt with mine if I can get time to sight the reddot in.
I never thought I would suggest this but.... if you NEED the 10mm to be a 1911 save some money and get a Springfield one over a jam-o-matic kimber.
Or if you really feel like spending money, which 2/3 of the cost of the kimber is for the name (who knows why) then spend the money and get a Dan Wesson

My Ruger 1911 in 10mm is a hoot.. I don't plan to shoot it often, but is fun. Definitely get some full-powered ammo from www.underwood.com (they ship to house in NY too!) - a bit more oomph compared to the 'regular' 10mm loads.

My oldest son has a 10 Kimber, he bought is several years ago. Last year he shot a ten point buck with it in the first hour of deer season last november.
He never had a ammo problem with his. It ran great right out of the box.
I bought a Glock 20 - 10mm a couple of years ago to.open carry when we go up in the Cascade Mountains in case I have to deal with any meth people that do freaky things.

Gunbroker has the Kimber stainless for $830.00
And you can get a Ruger 1911 for $780 and its more likely to run right out of the box vs jamming all the time and need to get sent in 5 times.

can't speak for all KImbers but mine have been flawless after the initial break in the owners manual on both mine said 350 to 500 rounds for break in both mine came in at a little over 300 2 of the most reliable guns I've ever owned
I agree oc shooter, I have a Kimber Target II in 45 cal. In probably 1,000 rounds I have had 2 failures to battery. I discarded the first failure round and passed it off to being new. When it happened the second time I studied the bullet and saw it was pressed in too far, probably was catching the bottom of the feed ramp. I dropped that round in the barrel , fired it and have not had another failure. I have zero complaints with my Kimber and I certainly would purchase another one!

I don’t know how true it is or not, but a pistol course instructor told me not to shoot those that are pressed into far. He said they can blow the barrel. For one round not worth it.

Nobody gives Colt any shit for making a less reliable gun than Kimber, but for whatever reason Kimber gets no quarter.
Cause no one buys colts any more. But for some reason people try and put Kimber in the DW category when they belong just above the Rock island category (and yet it sounds like the the rock islands are more reliable out of the box every day of the week)

I have a kimber pro team match 1911 in 4 cap that I never shot, it is still in the original box, never had a bullet in the magazine. I bought it eighteen years ago. One of my sons will get it when I cash in my chips.
I didn't a 80 series colt commander 1911 in 45acp.
With the colt magazine the fourth or fifth round the slide would not close all the way, I would have to push it to close. Then it would shoot and cycle the rest of the bullets.
I bought a Wilson magazine and never had that problem again.
When I had that issue with the colt I tried different types of ammo, it all wouldn't cycle right on the fourth or fifth round.
All brands have problems some time or another, some more then others.
