If anyone is interested in mounting their MSR to a tripod, here is one way that I came up with for only $10. I already had a heavy duty photography tripod, so all I had to do was figure out how to attach the rifle to it. I didn't want to have to buy an expensive rifle adapter that only fits Manfrotto tripods and then have to buy another tripod. So I bought a $10 M-Lok sling swivel adapter off of Ebay. Then I removed the swivel portion which is only held in place with a roll pin. I replaced the swivel stud with a 1/4 x 20 nut and attached the adapter it to my handguard. Now my tripod quick release just screws into the nut. I did add a slightly longer 1/4 x 20 bolt to the quick release to make certain I captured enough threads in the nut. I have not range tested it yet, but it feels very secure on the tripod.
