I did not say our problems couldn't be solved with violence.Sure you can. Force of arms has certainly put despots, tyrants, and scoundrels into power throughout history, but it has also put the likes of George Washington at the head of a movement to create a nation without kings and queens or royalty of any sort, where "all men are created equal" and a first "president" (who presides over government by the grace of Almighty God rather then rules as a petty "god") who refused to be made a king and specifically promised not to remain President of the United States past two term and only for the good of a nation as it sought to lay its foundational documents and laws. A promise which he kept.
Pinochet almost single-handedly saved Chile from becoming a communist dictatorship, and he did so by rounding up the communist insurgents in his nation and had them shot. He was not necessarily the nicest guy and I don't agree with everything he did, but he gave Chile decades of relative, stability, peace, prosperity, and even civil liberties after defeating communism there, and the citizens of that nation were very fortunate that Chile did not end up like Venezuela is today after Chavez and Maduro. Pinochet wasn't a George Washington, but he was far, far better than he's made out to be, and if I'd have been a Chilean citizen at the time, I would have gladly helped to shoot communist insurgents there.
Oliver Cromwell had a British king (Charles I) deposed AND executed, and did away with parliament for years because they were so corrupt, all because the "system" attempted to force Protestants into the Anglican church and "disbar them from bearing arms." Washington and Jefferson and Adams and the rest specifically entreated King George over and over again on the basis of English law that guaranteed that Protestants would never be barred from keeping and bearing arms, while pointing out that British subjects could NOT by law be forced into the Anglican church, knowing full well that they owed those laws directly as a result of the actions of Cromwell and his roundheads.
Force of arms can be used for good and for bad, by government and by individuals. The Founders firmly believed that force of arms were necessary and proper to repel both foreign invaders and domestic insurrection, which is certainly what is going on right now.
We have two options: shoot godless communists before they shoot us (which is what they always do eventually in their lust for power), or wait until they have the nation in the full grip of their power and its all over but the crying.
The Federal government absolutely has the duty and responsibility to stop mass riots, looting, arson (specifically outlawed by Federal law and enforceable under Federal law), murder, and mayhem in the streets of America. Our Federal government absolutely has the duty and responsibility to ensure that every American is at Liberty to exercise those Rights guaranteed in our founding documents, and to investigate, detain, arrest, prosecute, and yes, even shoot those in the act of violence, for violating Rights guaranteed by our Federal Constitution.
The fact that the Feds are not doing so ought to make us wonder why they are not, and that answer is simple and not complicated; because Trump does not have a firm grasp on the Federal power that is available to him and is not firmly in control as the Commander in Chief, or worse, because NOT stopping the mask bullshit and the riots serve their purposes to further entrench their power and wealth.
The only real question is whether Trump has realized how boxed in he is, or weather he has gone over to the dark side.
Either way, it spells troubled waters ahead.
Violence has time and time again solved "societal ailments." Whether for good or bad has been largely based on whether those who are trying to solve the problem are decent and relatively honest people, or devious liars who care only about their own power.
American citizens are the "sovereigns" (but not "a law unto themselves"), but only if they grasp the reigns and take command of their own fate. We the People are the final arbiters, at least according to the principles that better men who gave us a great nation and to whom we owe a very large debt.
If the communists take over American more than they already have, that fate is CERTAIN. Camps, extrajudicial killings, the open plundering of wealth from the "undesirables," and of course, a scapegoat based on race or color or religion or wealth or status that MUST BE ELIMINATED.
The fact that Anquifa and Black Lies Matter are openly calling for the cancelling and even death of those with "white privilege" ought to speak volumes for those who have "ears to hear."
America's problem right now is NOT race or any of the other crap the barbarians at the gate are caterwauling about, it is a matter almost strictly about IDEOLOGY, with the basic question:
Shall We the People remain free men at Liberty, of not?

I did not say our problems couldn't be solved with violence.
That may be the only solution at this point.
I said that martial law wasn't the solution.
But in Lincoln's time I'm sure they didn't suffer from it's peasants being little whiny bitchesIf re-elected, President Trump will declare MARTIAL LAW.
Lethal Force will be utilized, and the nonsense quickly ended.
If Lincoln could do it, so can Trump.
Sam Culper has his shit together on many subjects relevant to this thread.
Below he uses Galula's book to illustrate where he thinks we're at...not too good IMHO...
[FO] What's next for the urban insurgencies
Galula's book...available only as a hard copy...not cheap...gave my copy to the local library...
Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice (PSI Classics of the Counterinsurgency Era): David Galula, John A. Nagl: 8601406712119: Amazon.com: Books
The distinction between martial law and generic violence is not "word salad" or "games".Don't play cutsey word salad games with me.
The whole point of a declaration of martial law in any given situation is the government use of an overwhelming threat of law enforcement and/or military violence to quell riots, lawless murder and pillage and arson in the streets of our communities, to protect life and liberty and property from organized criminals, rebels, insurgents, and traitors.
You want to talk about how violence may be the only way to stop what is going on, then maybe we ought to demand that the lawful authorities who were elected be us and paid by our exorbitant taxes which they steal from us wield that authority properly and do their damn job.
There isn't even a need to declare martial law across the country (although it ought to noted that a defacto martial law was already imposed by shuttering businesses and trying to force "non-essential" people to stay home over Wuflu bullshit). Pick a city like Portland or Seattle, federalize the state National Guard and law enforcement, announce that all "protests" are canceled due to mass violence and looting until further notice and only when law and order are restored, and send them in weapons hot.
Next stop if that bulletin doesn't stop the nonsense is Babylon on the Hudson NYC or Chicom Chicago.
Watch the rats scurry.
The fact that Trump has left his manhood somewhere in Melania's purse and continues to play politics as cities burn and our liberties are trampled, restarting his ridiculous WuFlu press conferences that lend credence to the lies we are being fed, is irrelevant.
Politics as it has been defined in recent decades as "normal" are over.
Lawful government violence when innocent lives are being taken or destroyed, when billions in property is being destroyed and stolen,, is the perfect remedy for clear criminality.
Furthermore the Feds at the very least know many of the players who are stoking this garbage behind the scenes, including both Republican and Demrat politicians.
Expose them. Arrest them for treason since they are obviously traitors who are overseeing a vast web of violence. Stir that shit storm until they cry uncle and crawl back into their damn rat holes, then drown them.
Marial law, lawfully and aptly used by government when used in as a measured response, IS VIOLENCE.
Waiting around until we have to resort to street justice is nonsense when we have a perfectly good and just legal framework and the corresponding agencies to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
The fact that Trump has allowed the WuFlu bullshit and now this "race war" nonsense to metastisize as he rambles on about defeating some made up "invisible enemy" crap only shows just how blinkered he has become.
Any city or town where it is not safe for an American citizen to walk down the street due to organized crime or rebellion (rather than run of the mill street crime) is and ought to be subject to either or both State and Federal authority. When governors are blatantly allowing rights to be crushed and obviously allowing and even stoking organized violence in the streets of cities they control, the President of the United States has every power and authority necessary to bring the force of law against the criminal behavior of everyone involved.
And the fact that he's playing politics for his reelection shows just how much his efforts to date are worth while open insurrection is taking place across the nation.
Existing criminal law is more than sufficient to solve the problems you describe.
Martial law isn’t the solution.I did not say our problems couldn't be solved with violence.
That may be the only solution at this point.
I said that martial law wasn't the solution.
In normal times, yes.
But whether you cite 1860, or 2020, there will be DEMOCRATS who lust for power, and will make a mockery of laws.
Lincoln found MARTIAL LAW a necessity.
We may as well.
I was just doing kinda the same thing.Funny you mention food shortages. I was checking out those emergency food buckets that last 25 years earlier today. Didn't buy anything - just browsing.
I could probably take a deer with a hammer in my back yard if I needed to.I was just doing kinda the same thing.
4 does just walked through the yard and now 2 gray squirrels......and sparrows.
I like the cut of your jib. You should post more.Sure you can. It’s used today on the left tomorrow it will be used on the right after the next mass shooting to confiscate guns and property.
Martial law isn’t the solution.
It’s used today on the left tomorrow it will be used on the right after the next mass shooting to confiscate guns and property. Don’t say it won’t or can’t happen because it can and will. It won’t be all guns it will just be the scary black ones but then next it will be pistols.
the only path forward is to split the USA into two zones with one overarching government.
SoMe one said it that China will take Hawaii and maybe they will. But I think they will come calling for their debt at some point and take Alaska and Texas. Very nice real rich and on opposites sides of the country. Better financially and strategically.
What makes you think that the left won't use martial law on the right either way?
