Saw nothing on the news . Would have to poke around town as ask if anyone has heard.
I never heard of this guy in Colden, but if he needs help getting going, I would be willing to donate some time to him. Having a 1000 yard range would be AWESOME !!! I could play with my 50 for real !! If he happens to get back to you, send me a message, would you ?

I'm guessing the only time I'll hear about this is on the news. I have no way of locating him. Trying to do anything gun related in NY would be like trying to sell a Ferrari to a blind man. I'm doubtful he's pursued it once there was opposition.
On a brighter note, my local club has been presented an opportunity to obtain some land behind the 250yd rifle range. I dont know all the details but I'm hoping it could add maybe up to 200 yds to the range. I'm going to do some aerial measurements this weekend. I see some initial stumbling blocks to this but I guess we'll see soon enough.

I'll add to this thread before I go starting another. Preliminary news is that over the weekend our club hammered out a deal to secure additional acreage that came up for sale. The main goal was to extend our current range from 250 to something a little more challenging. I dont know much about other clubs in Western New Yorkistan but this could definitely be a HUGE draw to our club and its offerings.
Until I have all the details, I'd like to think the parcel will give us at least 400, possibly 500 yards. More updates to follow.

My club goes to 250 (Evans). They want to extend to possibly 500+ but that would be years down the road. I don't know about many of the other local clubs, but I think there's some around here longer than ours. I belong to Ridgway in PA but that's over 2 hours away.

In the end he might get a 600yd range I've shot 1000yd it took me 10 round to hit the target and another 20 to make it look like a group. Most people don't have the equipment to shoot a 1000yd(scope and mount setup).
Things change drastically past 600yd you could be aiming 20ft above the target with some rounds.
Not saying it wouldn't be cool to have a long range range in New York but it may be impossible to get it done.

i shoot a scar17 with a NF 2.5-10x24. I am very comfortable out to 650-700. I even hit a few at 825-850 at the ironman 3 gun in idaho........i did miss the 990! I also only send 2 at it. (It was a bonus target. So no need to get crazy burning ammo)

There's this too - it was recommended to me by a friend. Gotta display proficiency at 400y first before they let you move to 700. For me, 400 would be enough. Looks like fun, I'd like to go check it out sometime.

Ive got one on my property, soon to be 2000 yards.
The present location of my 1000 is not great to push to 2000, so im moving it here. With the removal of some trees, I can get 5000 if I ever need it.
Its kinda hard to see in this bad picture. This is about 3/4 of the straight away, theres more to the right.

I was planning on making a trip out there at some point. Seems like it's more of a smaller range where you might not have 6-10 people using it at once. Think you need to make an appointment. I love Ridgway but the drive makes it a sunup to sunset affair.
