Zip tie, poor mans lock.
If I had guns (see the great boating accident thread) I see no problems with the use of them; not like a cheap bike/gun lock can't be removed by a person if they wanted to. You know keeping honest people from seeing a weapon then realizing they need to run out and kill everyone.

I want to know which judge is approving pistol permits for 18 year olds.
The zip tie is to show either their property unit or ballistics lab that the firearm is safe and empty. It's also used to secure the firearm to the evidence box.
Trigger locks aren't included in the evidence box if it's not initially with the firearm. Otherwise it would appear that the arrested individual had a lock on the firearm
