Drum mags were around long before this thing made a go of it. The "snail" magazines developed for the Luger pistol prior to WWI for example.

Forgotten weapons might be my favorite channel on youtube. I've put more time into learning stuff about guns than any human probably should and so I know a hell of a lot of stuff about guns; yet they so often still surprise me with something cool (or dumb) that I've never seen before.
