I was home alone and bored stiff this past weekend and decided to convert an old antique shingling hammer into a Tomahawk (is that politically incorrect?).
before and after pics... Not bad for only having a 4" angle grinder , a 3"x21" belt sander and an assortment of hand files...
Haven't had a chance to throw it yet but it feels good in the hand,
center of gravity is about 3 inches from the top.
The handle, by the way, is nothing more than a ball peen hammer handle mounted upside down.
I was going to wrap the grip in leather lace but found none locally so I used the paracord I had in the house.
Looks great. For a while I was doing something similar out of reciprocating saw blades. I would leave the saw end and sharpen the back side of the blade. It would be a saw and blade in one combo. Then I was grinding the teeth off the bottom of the blade and wrapping it in paracord. It was great until the wife’s friend came over with her two year old and she was running around with them. Now they get stored in the basement.
