I wonder how many make it back into Mexico for every one that gets stopped.

All the stuff that law enforcement seizes in the US amounts to "shrink" for the cartels.

They budget for it the same way Walmart budgets for shoplifting.

And it has about as much chance of making a dent in their sales.

The article headline says about 180,000 rounds. But the actual article says they confiscated 450 boxes,- each containing about 1,000 rounds???

450,000 rounds a hell of a lot more than 180,000! WTF?

New math. But 180,000 rounds is a lot of volume and weight. I doubt the van had 450,000 rounds in it, but I have been wrong before. The reporter probably was a recent High School Graduate.

450 boxes of 400 rounds = 180,000 rounds. Most 308 ammo is packed 20 rounds per box and shipped in overpacked boxes containing 200 Rounds. 7,62x51 is often packed in 50 round boxes x 20 boxes = 1000 rounds per overpack. But then again I tend to buy medium bore rifle ammo 500 rounds at a time. So it has to be new math.
