2011 80%.. maybe project

Ok so after shooting a steel match this weekend my friends and I are now tossing around the idea of building comp guns.

And what better platform than 2011 (I may even look at 40 stupid and wide and do limited)

With that said I'm thinking I want to look at 80% for a build.

Who's all done an 80% 1911 or even better 2011.

What info can I get out of you.

Dsdmmat does a lot of 1911 builds. He’s your best bet.

With the cost of the tools The first one will cost you double what you will pay for a factory one.

I have 2K in tools to work on 1911s. I have been doing 1911 builds since the late 90s. I started to do the 80% 1911 thing last year.

Yup I looked at the tools I'd need to get and have pretty much said I'm good

Yes, but I can snag up a sti staccato P duo for the cost of tools.

Which will give me a better gun lol

When you spend that much in tools you have to make 20-30 to spread the cost out.
