Instead, the GOP is hoping to milk the dicks of the baby boomers for one more time for another election win, while ignoring or flat out putting aside the futures of younger generations who will never see the light of day from any of these unsustainable programs they're paying into. There is only so many times the boomers can come for them and give them another election win. They need to expand their base.

So why aren't conservatives winning over younger voters, generally? I think it comes down a few reasons, but here are a few ideas that come to mind:

  • They're clinging a little too hard to a very conservative social policy. A lot of people I know who are fiscally conservative don't share the social values of the GOP. We're more akin to libertarians. I don't think the war on drugs is really working or is a good use of taxpayer money, and I don't really give a damn about who @Darth loves in the privacy of his own home; even if that person looks like Zangeif from street fighter.
  • Say what you will about liberals, but their message on how to move forward is consistent. Free shit. Big Bern and his free shit printing machine were a huge force this last election on the left. It's flawed, wrong, and bankrupt of things like economic sense and individual freedom, but it's a consistent message from the left: "You'll get more money because we'll just magically make free shit appear."

    I don't really see a unified plan from the right, nor do I feel like a lot of these RINOs in the GOP have even been following economic conservatism. I want to know how I'm going to have more money in my pocket, and how we're going to be moving towards prosperity for my (potential) future children. I want to see the GOP get their shit together and send a coherent message, and I don't want that message to come from a man who looks like Cecil Turtle.
  • Conservatism in general has a bit of an image problem. It's viewed as something for the old, and not the young. And that's coming from me, someone who is conservative leaning.

    I think we're starting to finally see, in some places, an outlet for the sort of clean modern simplicity in production and presentation that millenials and younger generations seek out. Colion Noir and Black Rifle Coffee Company for example have these sort of clean, young asthetic going on, while still putting forth conservative topics or agendas -- just to name a few that come to mind. That's what I want to really see more of: younger, hip presentations of conservatism.

If the GOP seriously makes some inroads with younger generations, they'll give the dems a serious run for their money and take away a crucial part of their base. I just don't see a clear effort on their part to make that happen yet.

Very much in agreement. If the GOP wants to win elections it needs to evolve to a party of fiscal conservatism and social libertarianism. We can complain about the Mainstream Media being in the pockets of the liberals and Dems and all the free messaging they get from that all we want (and it's true) but the GOP has a horrific image problem. I'm a millennial and virtually all my peers view it as a party of old white men who are sexist and racist. A rational person will know that's not true but we need to get the messaging across.

Talk about the fiscal issues, which the Right will win on, and how you can keep more money in your pocket. There was a thread here awhile ago where a guy on the street showed people on the Lower East side of Manhattan the Trump Tax plan, he just said it was Bernie's Plan. Everyone loved it. This goes on all over the country. Get your image and messaging under control and people will eventually gravitate with the issues.

My friend from Texas has WW2 German Luger. It doesn't have any of the import stamps, and the serials match up -- so I think it's pre-68 GCA. From what he tells me it's likely a battlefield pickup. (Or "From a dead nazi" is what he likes to say.)

I was being all insomniac the other day and couldn't sleep.

So channel surfing....I came across the matrix. Which I haven't seen in like 5-10 years. I couldn't help but watch it.

I actually appreciate that movie more and think it is more timely now than when it came out. There was a lot in there I either forgot about or interpret differently now.

Pretty solid scene

I think as a country we all need our asses red pilled. There are too many oblivious people too wrapped up in meaningless crap while the deep state has slowly taken over our country.

It's officially called a 'souvenir' from the spoils of war. It was legal for servicemen to take 'things' from the enemy after winning a war or other military activity.

Either way, it's a nice gun -- I have zero idea what it's worth, but he has no plans to fire it much. Keeps it well maintained. Doesn't want to mess with the patina or anything.

What has Trump done for us re: the second amendment? Why didn't sessions put more pressure on SCOTUS to take Kolbe? Why didn't the feds write an amicus brief? They don't seem all that interested in reciprocity or saga. Trump is doing a great job, but I feel like he's forgotten about his promises re: the 2A.

I don't think he's forgotten about us.

I think He's making strategic decisions to play the long game. He's in a fight against a deep state coup to save his presidency. He is working triage on his agenda and prioritizing his moves.

He did appoint a bunch of good lower level court judges and a conservative to the SCOTUS. that is a big deal and will reap dividends in the future. Here's to hoping he gets more appointments

While I wish he would push more for 2A, I do agree with @Drinkthekoolaid here. He's doing what he does best, and negotiating. That's why he's trying to tie DACA to the wall. He knows the liberals will never fund the wall, just like they refuse to fund voter ID programs that would stand to hurt them from the illegals it would keep from voting.

But if he ties it to something the liberals want, like DACA, he can force their hand -- and maybe even get some credit for it with Hispanics for next election.

So we'll see. He's definitely playing strategically. Much like in war, you need to pick and choose when to wage your battles.
