He won’t. He’s too nice. His teammates are clueless and are still doing stupid shit. They are going to be engineers and adding the weights to the top of the boat and wondering why it’s flipping over. He wanted to put the weights in the bottom of the boat with me before he left but wanted to ask the team. Great kid, better than me and I have just done it to make sure it was right.

I’ve been at my job for about 25-years. Most of that time I’ve been in a supervisory position. Kids that half-ass it in school get pegged pretty fast. Yours has a bright future.

My 15 year old daughter got a 6 point this evening!
It’s her third buck in 3 years of hunting.
Her first buck two years ago was a small spike horn. Last year was a 6 point.
This 6 point is a lot bigger than last year’s, body and antlers.

Tried to do a camp run for a quick hunt Saturday but it didn't work out. We're battling a mice problem. The sun was setting fast before the wife and I cleaned up the mess. I said screw it and we went for wings and drinks! A local neighbor came in and gave me the deer report, there's a friggin 9 pointer hanging around our hill and the rut has begun. I hope to make another attempt but the southern open is next weekend, then Thanksgiving so who knows.

Windy as fuck today. Passed a few smaller ones and my target buck decided to stay in the thick stuff. Going to hunt the same stand in the morning and see if he gives me a shot. Finally seeing some chasing here.

It only took me 41 years to shoot a buck near my Adirondack camp. Unfortunately we have a big crew on opening weekend but it's like pulling teeth to get more than a few to hunt. It's become a big party weekend instead of hunting, very disappointing seeing we could do real decent deer drives with our numbers. So I made a trip to camp last Thursday by myself. After getting a few groceries and firing up the woodstove it was 3:00 when walked out the door. It was way too crunchy to walk so I found some tracks that had been cut within the day and sat about 30 yards off. A few rattles to start then a few bleats and this guy came in like he was on a chain. Its far from my best, but it goes down as one of my favorite hunts,, all but the part of gutting and dragging by myself as dark came quick..

Watched a hunter shoot a deer in the field behind my house last evening, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but they were at the bottom of the field shooting up toward the houses and road. Normally I wouldn’t really care, but since a neighbor’s house got hit last year I’m a little jumpy about it. I ended up calling the non-emergency DEC number to talk to them about it.
In the end, since they were more then 500 feet from a house, and nothing hit a house or road (in front of the houses, obviously), there’s nothing that can be done.
Call me a Karen if you want, but I was always taught 1) know your target and what’s beyond it, and 2) never point a gun at something you’re not willing to destroy. They failed both 1 and 2, and I’m not ok with that.
In the end, since they were more then 500 feet from a house, and nothing hit a house or road (in front of the houses, obviously), there’s nothing that can be done.

I have yet to get out with the weather and work travel for me and the wife. It sucks because I had a plan and my blind has been set up for weeks now in a great spot. I cleared lanes and cleaned the path of anything that could make noise getting in there. This coming weekend I’m getting out.

This weekend was bitter sweet . I got a nice buck , missed a doe with my pistol
( jerked the trigger ) however that doe ran to my buddies son and he smoked her with his 30-06 . It was his first doe so that was a solid outcome.
My buddy got a doe and wounded a 6 point that we tracked for 2 hrs after dark . It stopped bleeding and it’s tracks led us to a major deer highway intersection in the snow.
All in all is was a great weekend at deer camp , good food and great times with friends and my ole man .

I haven’t gotten out either, and I’m pissed. We’re having thanksgiving at our house this year so the last 2 days we spent getting things picked up and cleaned up. Granted with the weather today, I would have bailed anyway, but I’m hoping to get out at some point this week. Tomorrow I get to pull a toilet and put a new wax ring/seal in instead of going into the woods.

I opted for 243 Winchester because it is perfect for the local whitetails and a 1:9 twist will accommodate lighter varmint bullets.
It wasn’t ready for Fall 2020 and I filled my tags last year before it came up in the batting order.
This year I made a point of having it ready for a proper shakedown

As it stands now, I MIGHT get out Wednesday morning. It’s tight though as we have to finish prepping the house for thanksgiving. Friday will be a bust because of rain, so maybe I’m looking at Saturday at this point.

I’m planning to drive down Friday and hunt Saturday. Wednesday is a no go because my camp is 2 hours away. I need to get the fuck out of the city and buy a house with 30 acres in the country, but I’m torn between this or just leaving NYS. I’m sure I won’t make a decision anytime soon.
