I hit it, but back a bit.
Athough the grass was pretty high, it wasn't that high to where it could disappear without a trace.
There were deer in the woods in the background and they didn't move afterwards either.
I figured they would be moving if a coyote was running around them.
Bottom right corner, HaloX.
It's back and if all of the reloading components arrive, it'll be mounted on the 20-250 for next weekends adventures.

Dropped this one Sat Am while introducing some hunters into the world of hunting coyote at night with thermal optics.
They've been using red lights and DNV for a couple of years with little success.
Their on the right track now.
This dog and a few others came in on a string using new female coyote calls from MFK.
This one didn't get away.

This one got away.
I was waiting for another shooter to engage, but didn't know he couldn't see it clearly with the IR illuminator of his DNV scope reflecting off of the corn stubble.
This dog was pacing back and forth in front of the cow herd for 20 minutes.
I couldn't shoot until I moved into a better position and when the wind changed direction, I took a shot.
One lucky dog.

I usually go out this time of year with the mutts and see what kind of burrow activity is going on. 8 year disused burrow 50 yards from the backdoor of my house has new residents. Ahh...winter sports.

I went for a nice long walk at deer camp today. The GPS unit said I went 2.42 miles. I lost a call down there last Sunday, and went looking for it. It turned out that I didn't lose it in the woods, but rather I left it on the table in the shack. Still, a nice slow walk in the woods helps clear the mind. I found one shed antler, and two deer carcases that had been scattered by coyotes. One of the carcases had the antlers cut off, so someone else found that one too. I checked on the 3 known red fox dens and found only one of them active. Next trip down there I will hang a trail camera so it points at the den. I also saw a shiny blue and red balloon caught in a tree. I thought about shooting it down, but I didn't because I figured that NORAD was probably tracking it, and if it disappeared all of a sudden, they would freak out, causing Biden to call up China and say how sorry he was.

This year has been terrible for me. I lost more than half of my hunting properties before season started, then being unemployed made me not hunt very often because I didn't want to spend $$$ on gas. I negotiated with a new employer and took a pre-employment drug test last week. I suspect I'll get to start the new job sometime this week. Relieved to say the least.

It has Audio, it's the V2 model (the V1 Didnt have Audio) and it has an LRF which can be attached by bluetooth. Iray is making the LRF now.

I saw a review on the Super Yoter LRF by Korey Kirschman and he said he was a tad annoyed because of the amount of times he had to adjust the focus. Between that and the fact it uses double A batteries and only gets indoor burn of 4hrs and only 3hrs of burn using the LRF,,, I said screw that.

The Iray has a 2560x2560 round display. The same sensor Iray uses is the one they make for Bering. So it will be great humidity wise.
It has a 640x12um sensor with a 3.5x optical mag. The 3.5 to me was a bonus coming from a 2.9x optical mag. A little more but might seem like much more when looking through it. It has a 32gb storage which will allow it to record for 24hrs. Ive heard nothing but excellent reviews on the clarity, they say its superb. Iray gets like 10+ hours of burn.

I think you'll really like the IRAY. I really like both of the ones I have. Admittedly, I don't have much experience with other brands to compare them with, but I am completely satisfied with both of mine. I'm not sure that I get 10 hours of field use from a battery, but absolutely 8 or more. I think the ZOOM is a little easier on batteries than the RICO. I know adding the LRF on the RICO wears the battery down faster. I only seem to use the LRF at places I'm not too familiar with, or when first setting up to get an idea of where landmarks are. It's very nice to have, but I don't use it all the time. It's one more distraction in the reticle that I don't necessarily need.

Yeah, I dont think I hunt 10 hours either. Our longest nights go from 730pm till 230am.
The 18650 battery in my Fusion lasts the whole night but is pretty close to dead.
The Super Hogster with the double 16650's last the entire night and then some. Still have like half to 3/4 battery life.
I have LRF on the Fusion and use it like you probably do. I measure distances at the beginning of the set. Only once did I range a coyote and that was last week. Ranged it at 230yds and then killed it. It was in the field as soon as we got out there,,, so there was no calling.

Swwweeeettt Rig !
I finished building my 20-250 Impulse Predator rifle last week.
Sighted it in with the AGM Adder TS35-384 scope and 55 grain Berger pills.
The turn bolt 20 Practical will be collecting dust now.
Just waiting on the Area 419 bolt knob to call it done.

Did a bunch of sets last night and saw pretty much nothing.
One set that we walked back to, buddie thought there was a deer on the side of the trail but it was coyote. It ran off, it must of smelled us or heard us

Did two sets last night, one at a new farm.
The new farm was a bust, as all we saw was one fox and they weren't on the hit list.
The rather peculiar thing was that's all we saw, no deer, mice, owls or anything at all and it's a big piece of diverse property.
The second stand we had to push deer out of the way and immediately spotted a dog in a field 400 yards away.
That dog turned into three dogs, so we stalked to a closer spot and set the call out.
They didn't budge when I tried some lone howls, challenge or distress calls, but immediately responded to the poundtown call.
We got on our scopes, which fogged up immediately, as it was 15 degrees outside.
Cleared the fog, both of us shot at the same dog at almost the same time and I short stroked after the second shot.
There was a second dog to our left and I thought my partner was on that dog, but it spotted us and I didn't see that it was was running away.
You can see that dog in the background as I pan to the left following the lucky dog.
The third dog was in the background of my view and followed the other dog into the woods.
My 20-250 rifle still hasn't drawn blood, but it has extracted some feces from a coyote !

Went out last night and saw a couple of fox that I was tempted to drop with the 20-250, but decided not to.
The rifle still hasn't dropped anything.
As we were walking back to the truck, we spotted a dog 100 yards past the farm house, on the other side of the hill we were on, in a direction we couldn't shoot.
We tried to get into a better location, but it must've seen us stalking it when the moon came out and it left.
If we waited a little bit more at the stand, it might've came over the hill to us, but those are the breaks.

Well I lifted the 20-250 curse with a vengeance.
Dropped a 35.5 lb female Sunday Pm after my partner spotted it on the way into the stand at less than 50 yards, but didn't have his scope on and I was still getting my gear together.
It walked into the woods and met up with another yote.
They both started calling off and on for 10 minutes before I called them into range.
No video of the kill, but they thought since they were in the woods that they were safe to torment us, Wrong !
I attached a short clip of the escaping dog running through the woods after I shot the first dog and figured out that I wasn't recording.
You can see how thick the woods are and how they thought they were safe.

We spit up and hunted both sides of a swamp that we found this dog was traveling on.
It came in behind me to less than 20 yards, but the wind was in my favor and I was behind a tree.
It went over a rise without seeing me, so I repositioned and called it in.
The wind shifted and it knew something was up, but it didn't move fast enough.
55 gr berger did it's job.

Never heard of a Denning call.
If I don't hear any calling from actual coyote to answer them, I mimic coyote calling to each other.
Male, then female, pair and interaction calls to peak a coyote's interest or trigger territorial instincts.
Semi loud volume at the start(Low 20's), then lower it if I see them coming in.
I've turned two departing coyote on a dime with the newest MFK female calls that you informed me about.
I'm going to stick with what's working till it doesn't work.
If something doesn't work, you have nothing to lose by trying different calls at the next stand.
There's a lot of sounds on your E caller's, so experiment with them.
