I’ll be pulling my garlic soon. I’m harvesting strawberries now and I’m starting to harvest raspberries as well. Lots of berries this year. My blueberry is loaded and the branches are dropping. My veggies this year are not the best but the peppers and tomatoes are doing great. I have baby peppers and tomatoes on the vine now. My onions and garlic look good but the broccoli, carrots, and potatoes look terrible. Potatoes aren’t growing well and neither is the lettuce and spinach. I’m not sure why because I amended the soil and prepped it really well. I also added irrigation this year for 5 minutes every 12-hours. Last year my stuff in the same area did well with no input. It might be too wet and I’m cutting back watering this week.Well, what a crappy garlic harvest this year. I apparently got some shitty seed garlic last year. These are all the bulbs that I managed to salvage .

I’ll try to dry out the crappy bulbs none the less and if nothing else I can dehydrate them to make garlic salt or powder.

It was already close to 3/4 brown. That’s why I dug it up. Leaving it for any longer wouldn’t have helped the bad ones any.Early for garlic, wait till its 3/4 brown
Messed up weather year. Who knows sometimes things just don’t go your way.It was already close to 3/4 brown. That’s why I dug it up. Leaving it for any longer wouldn’t have helped the bad ones any.
My recommendation…… Bone Meal , bone meal & yeah, bone meal .More strawberries today. Great year for berries but the squirrels are up F’ing my peaches already. very few apples and the squirrels are getting into them as well. Looks like I should just stick with berries. My tomato and peppers are looking good as well. For some reason I never have enough nitrogen and my veggies turn yellow every spring then I hit it with a shot of nitrogen and they take off. I amended my soil immensely over the winter with coffee grounds, rabbit manure, and compost so I’m really surprised.
Not to question you but is it bone meal or blood meal? I heard blood meal for nitrogen?? I’m going to order some so I want to be sure before I do so. Thanks. My recommendation…… Bone Meal , bone meal & yeah, bone meal .
If you are looking for just straight nitrogen then yes ,blood meal is what you would want. But follow pkg. directions carefully, otherwise you will burn your plants roots. I use Bone meal because it also provides phosphorus and calcium. Not to question you but is it bone meal or blood meal? I heard blood meal for nitrogen?? Yeah our plants are yielding strawberries like gang busters too.More bounty. One days picking and most got frozen, too many to consume again. With the rain I shared many with the slugs.
Doesn’t like raise the ph? I’m pretty high here anyway. I think I’m a 7.5-8.0. I think I might need sulphur. I finally got my blueberries to be steady around a 4.5-5.0 and the yield tripled this year.@Saltwater60
You check your PH? I bet you need lime …if the ph is off the roots can’t take up the nutrients properly, no matter how much is there.
What kind of tractor you looking for? I'm seeing good deals on tractors on auction sites. $8000 for a Kubota compact with 1000 hours on it.I'm really looking forward to gardening NEXT year. Hopefully I can get a tractor before the fall. If so, it's going to be a big garden - probably about an acre. I want to get asparagus and fruit trees in the ground before winter.
There is already well established blueberries and grapes on the property, and more blackberries than I could ever use.
There is a walnut tree next to the gate at the corner of the pasture. Going to clear around it to give it some room to grow. It's a young tree, but has nuts on it.
Not sure what to do with persimmons yet, but there will be a ton of those. Lots of hickory nuts, and crab apples too. Probably won't be eating them, but glad they are here.
Chickens are doing good. They have more greens and bugs than I could give them in NY. They look healthier, and their egg quantity/quality has increased. Coop has electric and running water already, so that's a bonus.
Pigs will probably be the 1st meat source we raise. Would like to get some honeybees soon too.
I'm getting a bit off the 'gardening' topic.
Corn in this area is already taller than me. I'll plant a few 100'x100' blocks next spring if I have a tractor.
That's not bad. I want a new one with a loader and bunch of attachments, after I sell a skid steer in NY. If that doesn't happen soon, Kubota has 0% financing. What kind of tractor you looking for? I'm seeing good deals on tractors on auction sites. $8000 for a Kubota compact with 1000 hours on it.

I need a zero turn mower too (first).
