22TCM Rifle, pistol and ammo

Tested: The .22 TCM Cartridge

I can see myself building a pistol and Buying the rifle that Rock Island is putting out for this cartridge.

The nice thing about the rifle is it takes the double stack mags from the rock island 1911 pistols, (para ordnance dimensions). So you have a companion rifle for your pistol.

I am ordering one of the rifles for shits and grins but also to get a good look at the bolt. Depending on the design it may be possible to open the bolt face and rebarrel it to many different calibers that go in the 1911 and since I have a boat load of Para Ord guns/ mags and calibers I may end up ordering a few more to become donor rifles for new projects.

Do you have a para LDA. If so how do you like it. I have the p12 and love that gun.

Also great idea. I have looked at the RIA .22TMC 1911’s as well. I like the tac series they make.

No LDAs in my stable. I have seen the parts for them and the 80% frames though.

Had my gun dealer put the rifle on order yesterday. Hopefully it will be here Friday.

it is a niche round. The 5.7x28 got there first thus getting all the factory support. Right now Armscor is the only one making ammo and guns for it. Give it a few years once they get SAAMI speced it will gain market share.

This is what I mean. I get the 5.7 was first but its large like long AF... but the tcm works in a 9mm the 5.7 not so much

I almost purchased an RIA 1911 .22 TCM but the guys at the gun shop I frequent persuaded me otherwise.

They said that had too many returns on the gun because of hard lock issues which they said was from the 22 TCM ammo.

I have the TCM/9mm 5" 1911. While I do like the 22tcm, I don't shoot that cartridge very often.

No I went with the wood Rock Island Armory M22 TCM BA 22 TCM
I am going to build a dedicated 22TCM 1911.

Sounds like the too light recoil spring weight or improper sized barrel link/ barrel timing issues.

I've had some problems with FTE. Extrator slipped off the rim of the case. Shell expands pretty tightly in the chamber. Seems they only sell nickel plated brass now but thats what i had the issue with. I spray the cases with Hornady one shot. So far that seems to help.

Your Extractor probably needs to be tuned.

Could be but, I've got about 8000 rounds of 9mm through it without a malfunction of any type. So I'm going to leave it alone and just deal with it on the occasional time it happens with the TCM case. I've run a couple hundred TCM reloads through it and don't think I've had any trouble. Can't find my chronograph numbers right now but I recall H110 @ 10g was just a bit slower (1850+- FPS ) than Factory ammo. Factory out of a 5" barrel is around 2000fps

Found them online. 22tcm.net and 1911forum.com have a lot of info. H110 9.8g -10.5g all functioned the gun. 10.5 was pretty close to factory.

Got the 22 TCM rifle today unfortunately, the ammo did not come in. Got a good look at the bolt and it will only work with 9mm sized case heads so, 10/40 or 45 conversions are out. I can go from 380- 9x23 win though so I am pretty excited. I am going to keep this one stock and grab another one to build into a 9mm cartridge based rifle.

Got the 22TCM pistol conversion kit today. Slides right on the para ord 40 frame. Might just have to shoot it this weekend if the ammo comes in.

Got a chance to shoot both the rifle and pistol today. The wind was really screwing with the bullets at 100 yards .

Rifle: I managed to get a 1 1/2 inch high 4 inch wide group at 100. Managed to get a 3/4 inch group at 50 yards.

Pistol: 2 inch group at 25 yards. The fireball from the pistol is quite impressive. I was not ready for it the first trigger pull and wow got a good surprise with a bright yellow/ orange flash.

Sent the rifle into ARMCORP/Rock Island a couple of weeks ago because, the bolt lift after firing was extremely difficult, and the factory ammo showed signs of over pressure.

Today a brand new rifle shows up to replace the one it sent in. I stripped the rifle of its scope base and magazine before sending it in. The new one came with both parts in the box, BONUS!
