So, I haven't seen any discussion on this. (If I missed it somehow, I apologize).
Anyone besides me notice that Benelli offers their Ethos model shotgun in 28 gauge with a 3" chamber? And that Fiocchi catalogs 28 gauge 3" shot shells for it?
I'm kinda hard pressed to figure out the why. What advantage does it offer over a 20 gauge? None I can think of. Trying to fill the same niche, a lightweight gun with extra power shells when needed? Seems to me that the largest practical shot size you could ever hope to use in a 28 gauge would be #6 lead, and hope to get any type of reasonable pattern density.
At least in a 20 gauge 3" Magnum with 1-1/4 oz. of shot, #4 lead isn't out of the question.
Thoughts anyone?
