Well, no shit.
The 2A means: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The Founders design that the 3 branches were co-equal and would serve as a check upon each other hinges on the notion that each branch would respect that tenet. Should they not, the final check is the people themselves, for which they gave us the 1st and 2nd Amendments.
But it's football season, so....
Sometimes I wonder just how commiserating together on these forums and YT channels does little more than keep us planted in front of our devices bitching and blaming them. We sound just like all the other victims. Don't we bear the responsibility for not acting as that final check?
Tyrants will do what tyrants do. History will acknowledge that as a foregone conclusion but if the people don't act at some point, it will judge us for not standing in the way of tyranny.

In theory, police are there to protect the citizens from the criminals.
