OfC, NY's tactics would be to delay, delay, delay until the kid is 21 and they can claim the suit should be dismissed as moot.

Would have to bring on additional plaintiffs as the original ages out of standing.

They already can. No age restriction applies if you have an honorable status from the service or national guard.

Good luck with that. Very few if any honorably discharged vets meet that age criteria. But I am all for any 18-20 year olds suing New Yorkistan over this.

I can remember knowing a few guys with pistols around age 18-19 growing up.

My recollection is that NY’s law applies to Honorably Discharged veterans (not active duty) and under 21. With the absolute earliest age you could go in being 16 (with parental permission), and a typical 4 year enlistment, unless someone got an early out (or a shorter tour, like 2 years somehow), they would just barely get out before turning 21. And then throw in NY’s bullshit delays (of 1-2 years in places like my old county), and they are already over 21.

I must live or hear of events from another time line (Mandela effect) as I was sure that either SCOTUS or at least Federal Court already ruled that it was a Constitutional violation to prohibit young adults from transferring (purchasing) Handguns and "Other/Frame/Receiver" until they were over 21.
I could have sworn a similar ruling over "Red Flag" Laws as well, but here we are.
Either you're an Adult with full benefits and responsibilities or not. Historically and socially around the World, one is not considered an "Adult" until at least 21, and as I've said before; the US's reason for lowering the age to 18 was so they could Draft more young men and legally fuck more young women.
