The part of the story where the government went to serve a red flag order on the colonists in Concord to confiscate their military style weapons.I don’t recall the part of the Paul Revere story where he busted through Red Coats massed on his front steps, but I could be wrong. Link?
Agreed there, better to give them what's in the safe, then dig up the ones in the back yard once they leave.....Totally different scenario, and exactly the point I was making. One man receiving a knock on his door would be very stupid to shoot it out.
NY’s red flag law just makes it easier to disarm those that don’t have pistol permits, but own rifles & shotguns.Ditto on RBean's efforts! I have been through the exact scenario you list here, - the cops were called to my home; my gun taken temporarily, but returned at the end of the call; no charges all around, but days later the (now disgraced and former) OPPD Chief wrote a letter demanding my NY CCW be revoked. It was suspended, and I had to hire a lawyer and go to NY Supreme Court to get it ordered reinstated, and then got jerked around by the ECPPO and the OPPD to get my permit card returned, and later to get my guns returned to me.
NY doesn't actually need a Red Flag law (although we now have one...) They can just use the existing Penal Law to pull your firearms, - and then you have to go to court and fight to get them returned to you. The Red lag law just makes it even easier for them.
I believe this will continue to happen until NY's May Issue scheme is outlawed and changed to Shall Issue.
