This number comes close to matching the 2018 report from the Small Arms Survey. It puts gun ownership in the U.S. at 393 million, or 46% of the global total of guns owned by civilians.

Oh gosh, there has been times when I just wanted something cheap I saw just to kick around... but the nonsense of having to go to the PP office, then drive back. All the driving is stupid.

Eh, it really depends on the demographic buying guns that you're talking about. The middle-aged to older ones, 40+ yrs old, yea, they're probably not changing their tune about guns. These are the same people who think responsible gun ownership is keeping a 2019 vintage Remington 870 shotgun in the closet with a trigger lock that they'll lose the keys to and never touch, nevermind train with. Their politics are established, and they probably won't get involved into gun culture enough to change their minds. If they care about politics, they might contribute to those astroturfed anti-gun, Fudd groups, but those groups will always draw from the same small pool of real people. No new gun owners are going to be converted to those positions based on owning guns.

Now the younger, say 20-40, new gun owners who buy a gun, shoot it enough to realize that it's fun and get hooked, and are politically independent, they're the ones who can cause winds to change. I know several like that who have been pretty independent who have gotten a rude awakening after the riots, buying guns, and Biden's administration.

They're not enough to change much in NY, but here's from Texas: Failed candidate Robert O'Rourke as an example: Beto O’Rourke branded a ‘liar’ for conveniently singing a VERY different tune on Second Amd.

He was pretty clear that he wanted our AR-15s and AK-47s just a couple of years ago, but now he wants to "vigorously protect that Second Amendment right".
