We need more arson laws. Restrictions on matches and flints, and a full ban on those scary electric automatic lighters! No one needs a lighter to kill a deer!
Sad and effed up situation those people went through. Sickness/illness is nearly impossible to stop when an attacker becomes dedicated to fomenting evil. We need to somehow recognize mentally unwell individuals and figure out how to prevent them from harming others. I don’t think that the residents would have had a chance to defend themselves from this sick bastard even if they exited the building strapped and wrapped.

Well that is an interesting technique. Of course it is not anything new. Man just revisits ways to be cruel to each other every now and again.

Unfortunately this type of crime is not new. In Webster, a suburb of Rochester, an ex-con (who murdered his mother with a hammer but was out on parole) killed his sister and then set fire to the house. He then waited across the street with a rifle and started shooting firemen when they arrived. It happened on Christmas eve 2012. He shot 4 firemen and killed two of them.
