410 gauge 2-1/2" with high brass?

First off...it sure is cheaper to buy 12 gauge ammo as compared to 410!

Recently bought a Rossi single 410 Tuffy in nickel via Gunbroker for my grand-kids to shoot. Bought a box of Fiocchi 2.5" #8 shot loads with "low brass", they won't eject...need to be pushed out. Also have Winchester 3" #6 shot "high brass" and they'll knock your hat off ejecting!

Don't have much experience with 410 shotguns but wondering if the 2-1/2" rounds are available with "high brass" which this gun likes. Just trying to keep the recoil down some with the lighter loads.

My six year old grandson shoots the 2 1/2" 410 shells. I buy them in different size shot. I must have 10 or so 410 shotguns. Mostly single shots.

I also bought the Agulia mini-12gauge shotgun shells that he can shoot, I bought the 7 & 1/2 shot, I need to pick some more up for him.
He shoots them through my old Iver Johnson single-shot.

save your hulls and now get a reloading machine ... off the top of my head i think you can use Unique powder for 410 but double check ..
I'm sure he would love to make his own shells too .. just keep reloading them till the crimp just falls apart .. some of the guys here that shoot 410
even put melted candle wax on the end to keep the crimp closed ... because they cost so much new for a box ...

What would a 410 reloading set up cost? i never really thought about reloading shotgun, but for the cost of 410 it would probably pay for it's self in a short time and he would get more shotgun shooting in.

little over 200 for the press ( not sure if it comes with the charge bar or powder/shot bushing
sure there are some videos on you tube using and setting it up ..

... .. wads would be around 10 to 15 a bag of 500 , powder around 30 bucks a pound and lead shot around 40 to 50 for 25lbs
the larger the shot number the smaller the bb's are so #9 shot would be good for him .. lots of pellets in that small shell .. primers 5 bucks per 100 or 35 for 1000 ...

Just about any manufacturer's best quality target loads for .410 will be 2-1/2" low brass, usually #8 and #9 shot for skeet, and Sporting Clays, and lesser quality target #7-1/2 or #8 for informal clays. Most manufacturer's offer high brass 2-1/2" for hunting...Winchester High-Brass, Remington Express etc. In #4, #6 and #7-1/2's.
