Would they cycle a 1911? They would be handy to have although I hear they are not very good for the rifling.
From what I have read on other forums they did cycle the Ruger. The CCI factory shot shells also reportedly cycle the 1911.
I am not sure about hurting the rifling, it is only brass, lead, copper or plastic.

Unless I find myself with a bandit problem I can't see myself chopping up 308 brass to do this. Well... maybe if the brass is already split or something.
ETA: I'll give $10 to the first person to try and shoot a 308 out of their 1911

I think they would work in a pinch for bagging birds with close shots if all you have is your sidearm and or a rifle in a SHTF environment.
I will probably make a few of these up this winter, just for kicks. I have all the dies I need, I am sure I have some brass that is not suitable for shooting in a rifle.
